Is this possible?? These 2 resorts probably have 1500 rooms between them and no rooms available for the slowest time of year? Is it possible they dont release rooms until a certain date?

Perhaps there is a large convention? We arrived on Oct 1 last month and wanted to stay at Boardwalk Inn. All of the resorts in that area were soldout for that night due to a convention. Plenty of availability for Oct 2, but we already had plane tickets for Oct 1. We stayed at CBR, short trip, didn't want to move.

A quick search came up with two very large conventions during that time period. Lotusphere Jan. 25-29 at the Swan & Dolphin is also advising attendees to stay at the Y&B, Port Orleans, Caribbean and All Star. Feb. 1-4 is the MBA 2004 (some sort of financial housing related group) at the SW&D also has a list of hotels to book and has the Y&B as already sold-out for this group. (Gen. Tommy Franks is one of their speakers).

I also came across the Mechanical Contractors Assoc. that will be meeting Feb 29-Mar 4. Their speakers include Mayor Giuliani, Sen. Bob Dole and Irish Tenor Ronan Tynan.

Their really is no such thing as a "slow time" at the convention hotels, especially now that coporations as starting to loosen up the purse strings again. ;)

We originally had reservations at the BC during this period, but switched to WL becasue we saw all those conventions and the sold out resorts and just didn't want to be in the middle of all that (plus I figured I'd have a better chance of getting AP rates at some place that wasn't completely sold out!!!).

If you really want to stay there, try the BC villas. Last I checked, they still had some availability.

FYI: The major holidays seems to be "slow times" as far as conventions go at the Swan/Dolphin. The S/D has offered some great rates during Thanksgiving and just before Christmas. I also didn't have any trouble getting the teacher rate during the Fourth of July. The Dolphin wasn't even close to capacity then.

Hi! I just checked online, and it still allowed me to choose Yacht Club, standard room, and book online. Interesting?

I'm still attempting to determine where I want to stay....1/24-1/31
