No availability for early august

I'd take SSR over Pop. I've stayed there twice...once for a week, once for just one night. The week stay was disappointing. Our room was dirty and showed its wear. This past March, we stayed there one night and really enjoyed the resort.

I would go and request one of the newer buildings.

(Wish I could remember which section we were in, but I can't remember the name. The first time it had a DD view and was near the townhall. The second time, it was on the DD side, but it was in a building further from townhall. Not much help, I'm afraid. :confused3)

OT - I was wondering how long it would take for the SSR lovers to jump on the OP's comment - 'nothing available, but availability at SSR'.

First...NOTHING available? Does SSR just like not count to you? You'd really rather stay in a value resort?? And ummm...you're looking to go in just 2 months?? In DVC terms that really is last minute. And it's still summer. Why would you think there would be more availablility in summer?

Any DVC resort is better than a value resort at wdw, even if it is at SSR (joking...)

I'm a planner but every once in a while there's an opening for a last minute trip! My motto take whatever is available, there isn't one DVC resort that I would pass on to end up staying at the POP!

I have 2 personal all time favorites Resorts but in a pinch I like them all!

SSR is "showing wear" already? It wasn't built that long ago!

All DVC properties show wear quickly. They stay full, the kitchen contributes to more food in the unit and there is no daily housekeeping.

And nonmembers do not respect the property as a member does and yes that includes renters. And before any renter jumps me, I know everyone is not the same, but this is based on speaking to friends in housekeeping at DVC resorts about the issues.

I really am in favor of fining members if a guest, be it a paying one or not, are responsible for any damage beyond the norm to unit.

I am tired of my dues going up to cover the messes made by slobs. The stories shared by housekeeping as to what types of messes they find in DVC units would curl your toes. :scared1: It is a main reason it takes them so long to turnover a villa.

Wow! Looking for Studio for Aug 9 and departing on the 15th. Nothing available except for Saratoga Springs. So much for last minute trip. :confused3 I have reservation at Pop just in case my waitlists for BW and OKW don't come through. OKW only had 9, 11, 13 and 14 available! I thought that was odd. I was afraid to take those 4 days and waitlist for the other 2. I will be using borrowed pts from Sept 09 UY, so I didnt want to get stuck. I didn't think everything would be filled for this particular time of year, but I guess I thought wrong.

Do you think I should take SS? I just got cast off my foot and it is still really painful so worried about doing all of the extra walking just to get to the pool as we might not do parks this time around.

Am I missing something? Title is "No Availabilty" and second sentence is "...except for Saratoga Springs"???:lmao:

The real title should be "I can't get what I want under two months" (and you are really surprised that in the HEIGHT of summer it's full?)

I don't mind that the OP doesn't like SSR, but the title is factually incorrect.

I am a last minute booker and the rules are "take what you can get" If you want specific resorts especially the smaller ones you must book early.

If it were me I'd take SSR in a heartbeat over POP even with mobility issues. When you book, have the CM make a note of your recent injury along with your location request.

I've only stayed at one DVC resort - SSR - but I'll add our experience in the mix anyway. ;)

First off, I'd like to mention that I made no requests when we booked or checked in. When we arrived, I was asked if we had a rental car. I replied "no" and didn't think much of it until we got to our room. We were in the Paddock area and the Carousel bus stop (2nd on the route) was right outside. :thumbsup2

We had a 5 minute walk to the main building, and were about the same distance away from the Paddock area pool. :)

While it may have played a part in your room assignment at SSR, all Disney resorts ask if you have a car...if you do they print a dashboard tag to identify you for the free parking at the theme parks and as a returning guest at the guard gates.

HI again,

I seemed to have touched some nerves regarding my reference of SSR as being nothing. :sad2: Honestly I never meant that. IMHO I don't care for the look of it and the fact that so many on the boards complain about how spread out it is. I just got my foot out of a cast and wanted to limit my walking as much as possible...although I know that can be hard to do seeing that Disney is really all walking.:rotfl: Being relatively new to DVC, I also didnt know that 75 days chances of getting a DVC were slim. Anyway I booked it and cancelled the Pop reservations. I know many of you do not like Pop, but it has always served DS and I well. :flower3:

OK, I can understand someone not liking the look of SSR, because I'm not a fan of VWL but I am tired of people complaining about the how far everything is. The only difference I find in how far you walk at SSR/OKW and the "hotel style" DVCs is you walk indoors with ac. And if you want to complain about the lack of ac, then that's OK. I stayed in AKV Jambo last weekend and it took me just as much time to walk to Mara from my room as it did last summer walking from our room to AP at SSR. The only difference, it was indoors and if I didn't take the elevators and walked down the DARK stairs, it actually took longer. I've not stayed at POP, but have stayed at ASM and there's a lot of walking there too. Personally, since I already paid for my DVC, I would take any DVC even VWL over paying for room.

HI,

JUst as you are entitled to your opinion, so am I. :flower3: As I said in my post, I never meant to offend anyone.

I would definately take SSR over the value, and even the moderate resorts any day. Frankly, I would take SSR over some of the deluxe resorts too. I won't mention them by name since I don't have my flame retardant clothing on!:lmao:

SSR is our home resort, and no we don't stay there every time, but I really do like the resort. No, it's not at the top of my list OKW and BCV are, but I do really like it there and have absolutely no problem staying there.

SSR is our home resort, and we have stayed there twice. I like to try the different resorts but particularly like the Epcot resorts if we're with our kids and their families. At SSR we stayed in Congress Park the first time which was a short walk to the Carriage House or DTDl The second time we were at The Springs which was right across from the main pool. I never mind a nice, pleasant walk, but then I'm not recovering from an injury. Even though OKW us large and spread out, I love the peaceful atmosphere. Boardwalk presents a whole variety of entertainment choices as well as being within walking distance of Epcot or HS. October will be our first time at BCV, and I can't wait to stay there.
I guess it's all a matter of taste, and none of us are wrong for preferring one resort over another. Then there are people like me who like them all (so far.):cheer2:

I like Pop just fine, we often spend our first night there when we drive down, as I allow time for bad weather and road conditions, so we usally get in a night early. In fact, we often drive over to use the Pop food court from OKW...but, honestly, I wouldn't want to spend an entire vacation in a value room. I like the convenience of the in-room washer dryer and having a kitchen to make breakfast.

OP - I have no problem with POP at all. In my previous post, I was just statng that I thought it was funny the way you said nothing available and then only SSR. I certainly was not offended and truth be told, I am not a fan of SSR. But if given the choice between the 2, I would stay at SSR over POP any day as the difference between DVC and Value is drastic.

Actually, now that I have went ahead and made the ressie for SSR, I am quite looking forward to it. This will be the first vacation spent entirely at one resort, and in one type of room! Last 2 trips made 4 moves!!!! Waaayyy too much! Glad to have enough pts to cover it considering I sold one contract and now only have 100 pts.:thumbsup2

Does anyone know if there is a thread with everything about SSR? I see that all the other resorts have their threads, but dont see one for SSR. Thanks for your help!
