No Air Conditioner in Sept?

Are we nuts?!?!?!?! At first I didn't think it would be so bad to not have AC in our popup and camp at FW in late Sept. Now I am not so sure. I had figured that with a fan and keeping my "windows" open for air circulation, the shade at the campsites and the fact that we would only be in the camper at night....the heat and humidity would be manageable. Now I am obsessing that I have made a VERY bad decision.:(

I need some input from some of you. Is this doable? Will it ruin the vacation? Any suggestions on keeping the camper cool? Portable air conditioners?

It can be bugger hot and humid here in Philly in July and August, and I know how what the temps were like when we were in WDW last Sept. But I didn't sleep outside then either, that puts a new spin on things.

Any opinions??? (other than for me to take a Quaalude and relax?)

thanks guys

As a Florida resident, I can attest to the fact that it is still quite hot down here in September. It may start cooling down at the end of the month but ususally our cooler weather does not kick in until mid to late October. I could be wrong, but my father was saying that there are small ac units that you can purchase for tents and pop-ups at Home Depot for a decent price. You may look into one.

I live in northern FL which is a little cooler. until recently we never had ac in our vacation home. Its HOT in the daytime but tolerable at nite w/ a fan. I guess it would depend on your toleration to humidity (ive heard it gets humid in phillie). If you are used to ac, then you may need it. I know a lot of people up north do not use ac in their home. If that is the case for you then it may not be as bad. I personally would want ac mainly because I am spoiled by using it year round at home and I like everything closed up because I hate bugs. Good luck

All you need are a couple of fans and keep the ends open to move the air around and you will be fine.

I agree with We4mickey. We camped in a tent last August. and found no problems. In fact we were pulling on the blanket at night. By 3AM it was comfortably cool. We were in the parks all day. and a fan in late afternoon cooled off the tent nicely. I think with a popup it would even be better, more windows to open.

thanks to all.

I feel a little better now about the situation. We will take our turbo fan and go for it!

thanks again - lori

Have fun. Tell us about it when you get back. I'm trying to talk my wife into doing the same thing.:smooth:

I think humidity would be your biggest problem. The temp should be cool enough for sleeping at night. You shouldn't do any cooking inside the popup (use the outside stove) or use the shower if you have one. You don't want the people in the bunkends to wake up because it's "raining"! :D
