We tried to book 7 nights at Pop and 7 at POR for what we thought was a quieter time (arriving Dec 9th), we need a fully accessible room with roll in shower. We have one wheelchair user and one with mobility issues who can't easily use a tub.

The first problem was that in all of WDW only CBR had any availability for our check in date, but only standard rooms available not accessible rooms. There were no accessible rooms available at any resort for our first 5 nights so we have 5 nights at CBR in a standard room followed by 9 nights at POR in an accessible room. We really need a room with a roll in shower, but we will just have to manage, it was the only way we could stay onsite.

We've never had a problem getting an accessible room before. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there some reason there are so many people needing accessible rooms at that time? Will WDW be much busier than we'd thought and full of guests using wheelchairs? Is there a chance we will be able to get an accessible room nearer the time (we have requested one if it becomes available)? I'm just surprised they couldn't accommodate us at what should be a quiet time of year.

You are going at a time when Pop Warner football championships are going on as well as cheerleading competitions. And I think something about free dining. The rooms at the values and moderates go first.

You might keep trying, especially as it gets closer. Note that people who have a room-only reservation have until five days out to cancel without penalty. You should not incur any penalties for a reservation change since it is disability-related.

The date you are coming also coincides with Mousefest weekend. There are probably lots of folks using scooters and w/c's who also need a roll in shower coming at that time. It's happened to me before that my preferred resort didn't have a fully accessible room- there aren't as many roll in shower rooms to start with vs, accessible rooms with tub and handrails.---Kathy

You can ask for a shower seat where the person transfers to the stool/chair then showers sitting in the chair, to use in the shower or buy one locally. Just keep on checking back to see if there is an availability.

I think the main problem is that there were no rooms available at any resort except CBR for your dates. It's amazing to me but it seems WDW is pretty much sold out for that period. :confused3 I did a quick check for any room on the website for the dates of 12/5-12/14 and they said nothing was available. No rooms at all if I wanted to stay for those days! :scared1:

I'm sorry you couldn't get the room you needed but I guess it's just an indication that WDW is really starting to get crowded during the beginning of December. It's really hard to make last minute reservations at any time of the year now.

More specifically, 12/13 there are no rooms available anywhere on property. If you can avoid that night, you can most likely still find a room.
