No 2014 trip :( but 2015 is on!! How long do you guys plan im advance?

Just wanted to mention about your last trip, don't feel you missed out. I don't believe it is possible to comfortably do everything you want to do in a single trip, especially when it's a first one and you are trying to get a feel for your favorite activities etc. We knowingly missed things out on our first trip because a week into it I realized it was not just a once in a lifetime - we had to come back!

This made me chuckle because I'm taking my first trip and when I asked my Disney veteran brother if a week was long enough his answer was that a month wouldn't even be long enough, his advice was to relax, not to try to see it all and just think of everything missed as a reason to plan a return trip. That may have been the best advice I've gotten because I've been planning out my trip and it's made leaving some down time and prioritizing easier, I've left out dozens of things I want to do but just won't have time to... until the next trip :thumbsup2.

to those worried about driving out there, I was terrified & it was so easy, was the first time I'd driven an automatic too. by the time I got from the airport to wdw it felt totally comfortable I promise. the sat nav was a lifesaver so I highly recommend that. I've never done a night at universal before but that is a must for us this trip, having a 3 yr old who won't be able to ride many things means less waiting for her..and I won't lie I just really want to try it lol

I feel for you with no trip next year :-(
We went last November, just before we moved house so a trip this year was just not possible.
We'd decided on a West Coast trip for next year as we both used to spend a lot of time in L.A. when we were in our 20's.
When the Disney UK offer for next year with free dining, 14 day ticket for the price of 7 & all the other odds & sods hit my inbox in May we decided it was too good to miss so we booked for November 2014.
We're treating the in-laws & taking them with us, MIL is more excited than we are.
We've been in planning mode since we booked & even though we're still over a year away we get a kick out of updating our plans & keeping an eye on the new things happening out there.
We were there for 10 days last year & didn't see / do everything that we wanted, which gave us another reason to go back.
IMHO you can never start planning too early, it helps to keep the magic alive, along with this forum, WDWMagic, ALL Ears & some of the WDW Internet radio sites.

When you think about it, you won't actually want to do everything. DD was 6 when we first went. There were things that were not age appropriate or of interest to her then. So we skipped them because they weren't important to us. It changes up a little every year as she gets older but she is 11 now so whereas we used to spend a lot of time in Fantasyland, that's an area we barely touch now. Besides, if you do the things you really want to do 3 times each and forfeit some that you don't really care for, you go back having thoroughly enjoyed what you did experience and it makes you more likely to want to go back ;) Needs and interests change with age and stage. You're going to have a great time :thumbsup2

My ticker has been about for 2015 for ages, haha!

My DD will be three, so I cannot wait to take her. I want to relive when my Mum and Dad took me when I was a little girl and I can't wait to see Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live :rotfl: I really want a character breakfast with the Disney Jr characters for DD too :goodvibes

We're planning...tomorrow on my phone ticker, I enter the 500's haha...talk about being patient! ;)

I think I will have to join in on the planning for 2015 as I doubt I can convince hubby to go in 2014. We just got back from a trip to DLRP and that has made me want to go back to WDW so much. Seeing how much my 2 year old son loved it has made me determined to go. I will be looking at Oct/Nov I think as I would love to do Halloween or possibly catch the start of the Christmas celebrations. I am looking out for free DDP, staying at SSR or OKW and 16 nights so I can have 2 nights at Universal, excited just thinking about it!!!!

Me and DW had a spur of the moment visit to DLRP whilst having a short break in Paris. It was the first time we'd done Disney without kids. We had a whale of a time and that got us planning and then booking for 2014. DS will be coming but he'll be 23 so it'll be a different kind of WDW this time. Like you October is great - love the halloween and the weather is usually excellent. We are staying at SSR and will do a couple of nights at Hard Rock as the front of the line access is a wonderful thing to have in Us and IOA.

we just did a 7 night road trip including miami and the keys was brilliant but if you are set on visiting those places i would seriously look at flying in to miami !!

everybody on here had said it was a long drive from orlando but the drive down to key west and back up again was LOOONG !!! i felt we didnt have as much time as we would have liked enjoying the places before it was time to jump in the car and move on to the next place , that said we did it with 3 young kids so my planned 6 am departures were more like 10 am slow gos lol

No Disney holiday for us next year, we are going to put our sensible (but boring!) hats on and do a bit of much-needed TLC on the house so it'll be 2015 for us too. Not sure yet whether it will be to WDW but it will definitely be Disney related.

I am planning for 2015 too, it will be the first trip with our little girl (who is not here yet!).

Not sure where yet but disney related, really want to do another disney cruise :thumbsup2

That's hopefully what we'll be doing, flying into Miami, then 7 nights around Miami & Key West, then up to Orlando for 7 nights then back to Miami! Are flights any cheaper into Miami over Orlando?!
