Just curious--what does the email message that comes after you get NLIC'd say? Is there a chance that they will change to an acceptance later?

It thanks you for applying and then states that you are no longer in consideration.

It would be extremely unlikely that they would change their mind, but strange things happen sometimes. Don't count on it, though. Just gather your thoughts, think about what you could have done better, and give it another go in September if you can.

I wouldn't count on it either, but it DID happen to my son. He went NLIC for a PI which he was previously In Progress for. He applied in Feb, 2013 and went NLIC in early June. Then a month later, he got a screener-type of phone call asking if he was still interested. This was on a Saturday. They were very apologetic and basically said he was on the "B-list". He had until Monday to mull it over. Unfortunately, he had to turn it down because he was already committed to an off-campus apt for September and there was no way we could've afforded 2 rents for him (school and Orlando), and he at that point, he just wanted to finish his senior year and graduate. Now fast forward almost a year later, he's starting to wonder if that was right decision, because he just went NLIC again for what is most likely his last time. But the stars just weren't aligning last year. Just wasn't meant to be I guess. We would've been in too big a hole, financially, and he would've been put a full year behind in his engineering studies.

I'm just curious, had he had any contact with a recruiter before he went NLIC on that position? My daughter is still holding out hope for a couple of Professional Internships but hasn't had any contact from Disney on them. Her dashboard shows In Progress for one of them and Submission for the other two. Thanks!

No, he had no contact with a recruiter before that one screener on that Saturday at all. Every department handles their PIs differently, but for engineering at least, being In Progress is still a good thing. That means her app is at least being looked at. In submission, for my son at least, was not a good thing. He went directly from in submission (from February-closing date) to NLIC. Good luck to your daughter!
