NJ & Sandy

Sewell, NJ here. House and outside all secured. Very lucky that we installed natural gas generator this summer. So hopefully we will have some electric running in the home--allowing and friends and faily to come over if it operates as it should.

good thoughts for all

Gloucester County here.

I thought Dh was nuts when he started going through our supplies on Thursday. We have all the lanterns and flashlights ready to go. Gas for the generator and propane for the grill. Water, food etc. Everything from the yard brought in. I'm nervous about our chicken coop.

Plan on cleaning tomorrow and pulling out the down blankets. I think this is the first time I'm relieved w/ not having many trees around our house.

Stay safe everyone.

Driving into FL today on I95 we must have passed at least 50 various utility trucks along with Davey Tree service trucks in caravans all heading north to help. It was amazing...they looked like troops going into battle. I'm not sure where they're going but at least you know that there is additional help on the way. I also heard on the news that the FL Red Cross is also sending volunteers to help. A good week for us to be in FL but we'll be thinking of all of you on the East Coast. Hang in there!

Somerset County checking in...I am just hoping and praying we don't lose power...and we're leaving for our Disney Fantasy cruise this Thursday from Philly. Am a little stressed but nothing I can do about the weather.

Stay safe everyone!

Although it is still serious the reports have seemed less severe. It will likely be nor Easter or ts not hurricane when it makes landfall. They have also lowered rainfall totals. Stay vigilant though.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Stay safe. Looks like y'all's storm surge will be in the 6' range.

I think I'd rather be home----I would be very uneasy leaving my property unattended.

Somerset county here. All ready to go, unless we decide to somethings from the basement. Knock on wood, we've never taken on water yet(we're above bound brook-all the water tends to go there.)

Try an automotive store. I managed to find D batteries in R&S Strauss last year. They said no one had been in looking for them.

Atlantic County checking in. We're as ready as we'll ever be. Laundry done, cars have full tanks, stocked up on water, ice, and canned goods, generator and gas grill ready to go. Several schools are reporting closures for Monday and Tuesday.

My husband had a hard time finding D batteries also. He finally found them at Staples.

Thank you we'll try both of those later today!

Thinking and praying for all the Shore & Southern NJ Disers - stay safe!

I'm in Somerset County - we're set with water, food, snacks and hoping that the electricity stays on so the sump pump works! But just in case everything in the unfinished site of basement is in bins and on the shelves. We haven't gotten water in other storms but it's better to be prepared.

Our town, Hillsborough, becomes an island because of the rivers! They haven't called school off yet but all the kids are hoping :sad2:

Last year I was working for Spencers. We had batteries but no one knew. Try any store that sells any kind of electronics. They might have them.

Just got back from food shopping. It was not busy at all, thank goodness, but the nightcrew was still there packing out, and the store looked like a tornado had gone up and down the aisles.
Stay safe everyone!

Trenton here. Just counting down time until the Delaware River and Assunpink Creek start flooding.

We are heading to WDW Thursday night. It did not occur to me to buy huricane trip insurance for NJ :rotfl2:

Stay safe all!

Cumberland county here! Worried about the rain more then anything! Don't think my basement can handle 10 inches of rain! Good luck everybody!

Our town is giving out sandbags, not sure how much that helps, but we will put them around garage and basement windows. Our neighbor carted all his basement stuff off in a uHaul. My house looks like an episode of hoarders.

I just got a nixle alert that they're evacuating some parts of my town. Not the part I'm in, we're high enough up from the river, but the low lying areas are being moved out.
Once the river starts to flood I'll be cut off from my parents' town unless I want to drive an hour around the other way. I've called then a couple of times today to see how it's going and my mother hasn't even gone to the store yet... sigh...

Bergen county here...... Stay safe everyone! Town is giving out 3 sandbags per house...and has the church hall opening tomorrow as a shelter... Ugh...

Bergen County....Toys R Us had batteries. Just a thought.

Our Wood Cliff Lake that was supposed to have the dam opened yesterday hasn't happened yet as per a mayor email. Very worried about that. We have 6 houses in town already being bought out by Blue Acres and I see that number going up.

Prayers and hugs all. Will be checking in later.

Gloucester County. I just hope we do not lose power for too long, we have a well so that means no water. I can live with anything except a shower, well, flushing, too, but I'll be filling the bathtubs for flushing water.

But if we do lose power, maybe that will convince DH to get a generator for next time. Especially for the water pump and sump pump.

I would hate to leave the house unattended, too, I would be afraid it would be emptied.
