does that mean schools will be closed tomorrow?? We already have a delayed opening, I am going to be up all night. We don't have a sump pump and our basement is flooding. I am keeping on top of it by using the wet vac. If I can get it to stop and I manage to fall asleep I'd like to know if I have to worry about getting the kids up tomorrow morning.

my sister is up there this weekend and her son. I haven't heard from them since they got there yesterday.
sorry you all are going through this. I'm from NJ so it holds a special place in my heart.

Our schools are closed. We got power back after 24 hours without it, the school has power, but with all the trees down and so many people still w/o power they can't have it.

Here's a list on 101Wins:

Looks like most schools are open.

Our schools are open! There was no power yesterday- but I am guessing they got it back on since there is school (we are rural so the toilets need electricity to flush*(the well pumps) If there was no power there would have been no school.
Hope you are safe.

I'm in NJ, too. We realized late Saturday night that we were starting to get water in the basement. Spent the rest of the evening, moving things up off the floor or upstairs. By Sunday morning, we had a two or three inches of water all over the basement including the finished carpeted area. First thing we did was run to Home Depot to rent a carpet vacuum/cleaner. Even arriving at 7:45 am, we got the last vacuum. I spent 5 1/2 hours yesterday suctioning up water. Today, I'll do it again - wait a couple of hours to see if the 'seeping' is done - and then clean them with carpet soap. So, I am very done with rain and water.......period!

We are from South Jersey and my sister has lived in her house for 18 years and NEVER had any water in their basement...This winter has been a disaster for them. Water every rain and every time the snow melts. This weekend they had water pouring in and three kids with the stomach bug!!! Talk about wanting to crawl in a hole and die!!! My Dad lives across the street from her and he started having the water come in too this weekend, along with their two neighbors!!! Can never have enough wet dry vacs!!! Not sure I'll ever get mine back from her!!!

The schools in my town are open, but most of the nearby school districts are not. There's no power at my office so I'm home today. I can't work here because I can't access my work computer or phone with no power there.

We have to boil our water or use bottled. Thank heaven we haven't lost our power at home.

Things are really bad by my in-laws (Lincoln Park). Their house is completely surrounded by water. It hasn't come into the house yet and hopefully, won't. LP's emergency management told them Morris Canal will crest at 8:30 this morning (now, actually). If they get through that without water coming inside, their house should be safe.

Man, what a storm!

well, it is 8:30 so I guess they have school...at least it is a delay. I was up all night and I have kept the water from seeping all over the basement. I am down there about every 20 minutes sucking the water up from the french drain. The water is just not stopping!!

I'm in more central Jersey (Somerset County) and our schools are open.

Saturday at the height of the rain, we had our regular sump pump running continuously but the level in the drain was so high the aux. emergency pump kicked in as well. Luckily, between the two pumps they controlled the water and we had no flooding in the basement. If our electricity had gone out, it would have been disaster.

Hugs to all in NJ - I grew up in Wayne, so we've been doing flood watch for years!

Jane
