Hi I am traveling to Florida in two weeks from New Jersey and would like to stay either in georgia or south carolina this will be my 1st time staying at a hotel on the way to florida. I have been researching some hotels and not sure where i should stay. Has anyone stayed at LA QUINTA in Savannah Georgia? If so how was your stay..

Thanks for any help or suggestions you might have...

Hi!

I live in Savannah.
Which Laquinta are you talking about and I will let you know. There is an exit that has a Hampton Inn, Days Inn, Best Western, Holiday Inn Express that has several restaurants like Cracker Barrel, SHoney's, Ruby Tuesday, Denny's etc....
I think it is exit 96 or 94 in Savannah. I am going down that way later and will let you know.....

If you get to Florence, SC...a few miles past SOTB there is a good area there with plenty of Hotels :cool1:

My dd and I just got back from driving from Virginia to Florida.
For us the trip is 746miles each way.
At the 350 mile from Virginia is Santee, SC.
This was almost half way for us. We stayed at Clarks. It was $71. Very Clean. No breakfest, just a nice clean room. There is a new Holiday Inn in the area. And other hotels.
I think NJ is five or six hours from us? It took us five hours from Virginia to get to Santee,SC. Then the next day it took us Six hours to get to Orlando.
Comming back it took us twelve hours total to get home.
Going down I got hooked up with a pack of cars that were going 90+ for a ways.
Comming home everybody stayed around the 80mph speed.
It seems like Georgia people really watche the 70mph speed sign?
I'm not sure how fast you like to drive? I wish they'd let you run 85-95 and not mess with you.

Also from Virginia, we stop in Brunswick, GA. Lots of hotels and food. Made it to Universal by lunch the next day, check-in at Royal Pacific, get our room keys and get front of the line at the parks all afternoon. Almost like an extra day.

Watch for excess speed in Virginia, anything over 80 mph is reckless driving, a misdemeanor requiring a court appearance (bad if your from out of town).

My son found this out the hard way.

Lou

If you can make it to Florence, SC. There is a lot of lodging options. Hampton Inn and Courtyard are the nicer ones right off of I-95. From Florence it's just 6 hrs left til Orlando.
