nitty gritty cabin rate questions

Hi,
I've got a flight with dates "on hold," and I need some information before deciding to confirm. The ONLY dates we can use our FREE airline tickets for are February 8-23, which is a long time.

1. According to my travel agent, if we check in during the value season, that rate stays in effect for the entire length of stay, even though it turns into the peak season on the 11th. Does anyone have any experience with this? How can I find out what season starts when in 2005?

2. If we are going to be there that long, we will most likely get Annual Passes. Those discount room rates don't come out for awhile. Based on previous years, do you think there will be an AP room discount during that time? Do you think I should chance it?

3. And last, are the crowds horrible over those times? Our options were very limited using those tickets.

Thanks for any ideas, suggestions.

never stayed at the cabins but we're considering it so that's why I've started lurking on the Camping at Disney board.

However, we did go 2/9 - 2/17 this year so I can speak to the time frame. It is value season on 2/9 - and we got a value season AP rate at the Poly of $179 per night (plus tax of course). On 2/12 it was PEAK season but we kept the same rate. AP discounts are good for "check in dates" and usually room only discounts are good for "stays through". Make sense? I think you'll be fine checking in on the 8th.

Crowds. Good grief - it was great on 2/9 - up until the weekend before President's Day. That Friday the crowds increased to the point of ridiculousness. Apparently many schools in the north have a winter break during this time. Presiden'ts weekend was very crowded. I've been during July 4th - and it didn't compare to this.

However, if I had free airline tickets during this time I wouldn't let the crowds stop me.

Have a great time.

Historically, based on prior year's rates, you will probably be checking in during Value Season, so yes, you would get the rate for your whole stay.

We stayed in the cabins this past January on an AP discount ($139 before taxes).

As far as crowds, it will probably be a bit crowded, but since you will be there for such a long stay, you will totally be able to manage it. Take advantage of EMH, leave the parks when it starts to get busy, go back for the evenings.

There is SO much to do at FW you will not be bored by any strech of the imagination.

Sounds like a great trip!!!!

And lets not forget....with your length of stay, using the AP rate (which are often 45 -45% off rack rate), and being able to have meals in the cabin....you can't beat it!!

I want to stay that long!!:sunny:
