Which is better for girls. which has a better variety of games IE: girly (hanaha montana etc..) Either have any educational games- reading/ math?:thumbsup2

Game Boy games can be played on the DS, (but not the other way around.) The DS is basically a newer, better version of the Game Boy.

I think the DS's are really neat, but then again, I'm a WAYYY overgrown girl :) They seem to have neat games that appeal to girls, i.e. NintenDogs is VERY cute, there's a Hannah Montana game, and the DS also comes in pink! (That's my selling point, right there!)

HTH!

My eldest daughter has had a DS for a couple of years now and i was THE best toy investment we've ever made, never grows bored of it, will replay games, encourages her to save towards new games... it's a good travel toy, it's a good quiet time toy, it can even be a good social toy (as they can link up via wifi mode to other friends with one) on the same note though she doesn't get obsessive over it like i've seen some kids do with video games that require use of the TV, i think the fact she knows she can pick it up and put it down whenever lessens the "must-play-must-play" other consoles have.

She loves HSM game, nintendogs, animal crossings, harvest moon, cooking mama, spyro, chocobo tales- it's had alot of play hours on it.

DS...

...for the reasons already stated...and if you are purchasing electronics it is always best to get the most updated...

...happy purchasing!

I have to agree with this poster.
My 2 girls (8 & 6) love their nintendo ds.
They never get bored of them either.

I don't think they are even selling Game Boys anymore. My MIL went to Game Stop looking for a uses one and they want $100 for them! For an extra $29 she got a new DS. There are not a ton of Game Boy games to choose from nowadays. I know Target barely has any....we were able to find some at QVC. I think for a younger kid Game Boy is great...but for kids7 or older I would get the DS! My DS (3) has gotten my older sons Game:) Boy after he received a DS... and now even DS whose only 3 wants his own DS!

My girls each have a DS (DD6 wanted one from Santa, but Santa figured if DD6 had one, DD3 would want to play it, so Santa wisely brought one for each girl ;) ). We have found several games that are easy enough and keep DD3's attention and a lot for DD6. They do have a pretty wide variety of games. I even play them from time to time.

I didn't even know you could still get a GameBoy. I thought the GameBoys were replaced by the DS.

Good luck.

As of last Christmas, when I tried to buy a game boy for my 4 year old, they are not making the game boy anymore.

Both girls, 9 & 5, love the ds and you can play all game boy games on it as well.

I will say, about the Hannah Montana game it's pretty difficult for DD6. I'm not sure how old your kids are, but it's a lot of reading for clues and following directions to find hidden stuff. It would be great for kids a little more advanced with their reading and content skills.

My kids (ds5 and DD8 ) both have one and my dd plays hers alot. I think the American Girl Julie game is really cute.

DS - They have a game Master Chef that my daughter loves, you can "cut" and "mix" and all sorts of things with the stylus. She also has a game SmartGirls that she loves.

The Nintendo DS is a great system with tons of games! I even have my own.

The newer pink color is really pretty. It's kind of metallic pink, a little darker than the coral color that's been out longer. I think the newer one has Rose in the name. I love my red one but was admiring the new pink today.

My ds8 and dd5 got the DS systems for Christmas - they are great interactive games. As PP stated the Gameboy Advance system is being phased out - I believe 2007 was the last year they were producing new game systems.

As for educational..... there are a few games on the DS that are geared toward math, memory etc. But I wouldn't say that they "held" my kids attention that much. They both have Leapster L-Maxs and those games are all educational and are more entertaining. We bought the leapsters 2 yrs ago - and they still use them too. (Although they prefer the "fun" games of the DS - Mario, etc.)
