Nintendo DSI or Nintendo DS in 3D?

Cost issues put aside, I'd pick the 3DSXL, easily. It folds up, so is a little easier to transport than the 2DS, has the much bigger screen, can play the newer generation of games that a DSi cannot, and so on.

If the 3D were really an issue for them, they can always turn off the 3D depth. That said, the notion of it being bad for their eyes (regardless if they wear glasses) is largely untrue. Extended use can cause fatigue or possibly even headaches in the worst case, but few eye doctors regard it as an actual risk to eyesight.

I have a 3DS XL and always just leave the 3D turned off. It's optional and I don't care for it.

It's been a few days since I have been on the boards. Many thanks for the time all of you took to reply to my questions. I have gotten much needed advice and suggestions.

I personally like the ideal of a Kindle Fire for each of them. Since they have been wanting a DS for the last year or so my daughter thinks they will be disappointed. They each got the Nambi tablets last year and loved them. After about 3 months the tablets started having problems. They don't hold a charge for long or will not take a charge at times. This happens so frequently they have almost stopped playing with them.

We are trying to take a trip to WDW in May so cost is a issue.
