what's the difference and is the difference worth the extra $35.00?
do I need to stock up on any accessories

The DS and the GBA have different "computers" inside. The DS can play DS games AND GBA games. The GBA can only play GBA games and not DS games. I would recommend getting the DS over the GBA for kids of any age unless you are afraid that they'll lose it or unless the cost differences is a big problem for you. If you have two kids with two DS's, they can play games wirelessly with each other. My DS7 and DS4 love to wirelessly link theirs and play games together or send each other messages. The old GBA is just gathering dust.
