Hi

flying with Airtours soon...does anyone know if the kids will be able to use their handheld Nintendo DS. Have got headphones with it so not noisy.

Thanks

Yes, as soon as the seatbelt sign goes off you can use electronic equipment :)
You just can't use them during takeoff and landing.

I worried about this when I took my DS as they do transmit radio signals. However I asked a flight attendant and they said that as it was Bluetooth (range of about 10m) it was fine.

I even played a game of mario kart against someone else sitting a couple of seats across from me. :)

And remember, DS games are REGION FREE!!! So you can buy them over there at about HALF the UK price!!!!

Forgive me my stupidity but are the Nintendo DS machines themselves the same as we have over here. My DD (5) is going mad for one and it is only because her big brother has a gameboy. Would be tempted to buy one if at a lower cost. Thank you.

Nice!:thumbsup2 I'll have to see if I can give that a go. Gladly, for my trip, I'm packing my DS and my PSP since my mum likes to play the DS as well (Only Brain Training)

Sorry, don't know this one? Only know about the games cos a friend told me they were region free and she buys loads for her son when she goes to the States on business (and we get some handed on, so I know they work for definite!!) If you start a new thread, someone might have "the knowledge" out there....

A DS bought in states will work over here just an adadpter for charging.Get a car charger will work there and here.
Just asked the expert(11 year old son)and the gameboy charger will work on a DS,so if you allready have a gameboy you can use that chager no problem

Well, the 17 year old expert says that its different as they use a socket that looks like a mini USB socket. I guess since the console got smaller the socket had to get smaller.

would take the word of an 7 and 11 year old expert over a 17 year old one anyday:rotfl2:

That's pretty true, I'll stick to the software stuff, since thats what I'll be studying at University (hopefully - Computer games technology/programming)

I'll take any intelligent child's response compared to this middle-aged Mum who has no idea!!:lmao:

My DS (lite) is a US one. I picked it up in Virgin for about 70 bucks (US prices and AP discount, you can't beat it :) ).

Anyway, the charger wasn't any good but I also picked up a cable for 3 bucks that allowed you to charge the DS from a USB port. So now I charge it from my PC and I've never had any trouble.

Only other difference is the date being MM/DD/YY.

I just bought one today fron PC World. Got it as a package deal for £119. I got the black DS Lite, starter pack, headphones and one game (RRP £30).

Although I have just come home and searched for games on the web, and I've picked a couple up for £15 each. Much cheaper than the stores.
