Nine American soldiers from the same command have been killed in two bomb attacks in provinces north of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, the US military says.

What make you think that? Do you honestly believe there are folks in Iraq with the desire, means and ability to attack the US, but are choosing not to because our solders are over there?

It does if many of the terrorists are hanging out in Iraq where they have friendly support all around them and can still shoot at Americans at the same time... why spend all the money to fly to the US when some sympathetic Iraqui (or Syrian or Iranian or Saudi Arabian, etc.) will give you a place to stay for free and still let you accomplish your goal of shooting at Americans?

If we could stop pussyfooting around over there and do the job that needs to be done then the troops could come home pretty quickly, but instead they try to play "nice" against a small minority of people that don't have the word "nice" in their vocabulary and as a result things drag on forever, just like Vietnam, when the fact is they could easily wipe out the opposition quite quickly if we really wanted to do so - it would likely involve the loss of innocent civilians and the destruction of much property (that we'll be rebuilding eventually anyway...) - but it would be done a lot faster and save that many more lives and dollars in the end.
