I'll start by saying I have read reviews in guidebooks and fully understand this is not going to be the best chinese food I have ever had, and my local chinese restaurant is probably just as good if not better.

That being said, how is the food and more importantly the decor? I ask because my 2 year old daughter loves oobi(children's show for those of you without children. For those of you with children I am sure you have seen more hours than you care for of these hands with eyes! lol). Anyway in one episode they good to a chinese restaurant, and she loves the episode.

My hope was that she would get a kick out of the place (due to the decor, chopsticks, etc) and let my wife and I atually eat a meal that took more than 10 minutes.

What are your thoughts? Thanks

The decor is nice, better than anything we have around the Boston area in terms of ornate exoticy. (Is that a word?)

The food, as you know, sucks. (Pardon my french.)

I'm sorry to hear about the food quality. I had hoped to convince DW to eat ther someday. :earsboy:

We usually go there for lunch while we are at Epcot. My son loves dim sum and they serve it there. Sometimes it comes out on carts and sometimes you have to order it from the menu. It is okay in terms of taste and better than the regular menu items. We usually order the pot stickers, char sui bao, and sticky rice.

I may be one of the few, but  , I really did like the food. The atmosphere is very nice as well.

We ate there a few years ago. At lunch it was practically empty.

As far a decor, it was pretty typical but add one unique (and unintended) aspect. There were little bitty birds in the building, under the tables, looking for rice, etc.

Of course, they were more polite than the squirrel by the fish and chips place in Great Britain that climbed up on the table to steal my daughter's "chip" off her plate. I didn't know squirrels liked ketchup with their chips... :rotfl2:

I am another one of the few who really liked the food at Nine Dragons... I'm not into the really authentic Chinese food, so it was perfect for me. I also had the nicest waitress there that I've ever had in Disney.

Could you elaborate? Was it the quality, taste, presentation, or all three that sucked?

The taste. I couldn't really tell the quality -- there wasn't anything really distinctive actually. And the presentation was excellent, as was the service. The problem was just the taste.

Gotcha. My family is pretty weird - they have this little culinary perversion where they love average chinese food. Can't get enough of it, actually! The greasier the egg rolls, the better!

I have to admit I kinda dig it too!

:sunny:

I say skip it. Decor is ho hum, food was terrible, portions so tiny.
It might be better if you could find a local chinese place near Dis.
Good luck!

Ate at Nine Dragon's last week, first time eating there. Went for lunch, it was empty. DW and I split the sampler for two. It was quite good, especially the Sesame Honey Chicken. The decor though was awesome. Living in Philly we have the 3rd largest Chinatown in the nation and I never came across as nice a dining room here. The only drawback was the stupid American children playing drums on the tables with the chopsticks, or trying to look cute by putting the chopsticks in their mouth like a walrus. Not small children mind you, but older teenagers. Other than those distractions, highly recommend Nine dragons.

You must have never been a teenager!!! :rotfl:

The Chinese restaurants in my town LITERALLY have rats. Not mice, big cat-sized RATS. I was waiting to pick up my carryout order, when two rats could be heard running across the tiled ceiling above me. All of the sudden, the rats hit a loose/broken tile and fall out of the ceiling onto the floor in front of me. I don't know if they were mating or fighting but they were rolling with each other around the floor of the restaurant.

I have not had Chinese food since. I love Chinese/American food. I want to go to Nine Dragons because (perhaps foolishly) I have this belief that Disney will be more sanitary than my local places.

Do you think 9 Dragons is clean and safe to eat?

Okay I too never had a bad experience there and loved it. That said, it has been a few years since we've been there because I'm ashamed to admit it, but the reviews were pretty bad so I never went back  I would like to hear some recent reviews, I'm thinking of going back in August.

Thanks!

My husband grew up in HK and we have always enjoyed the food at Nine Dragons (except for the combo lunch). I really think it depends on what you order. We have had a few of the waiters/cast members steer us away from a couple of dishes. We think the portions are very large, we are DVC and stay at the Boardwalk Villas and always have leftovers to bring back. The decor is kinda tacky Chinese however.
