Just read that Nine Dragons will be closed for rehab from January 6th to December 31st with no info passed that date. Wow, are they tearing down the building and putting a new one up?

Everything but! My understanding is they are completely gutting the interior and putting in a show kitchen in the center of the restaurant. It should be great when it's done, but since that's one of my favorite Epcot restaurants, I'll sure miss it while it's down for rehab. My hope is that since they have had to extend so many rehabs past their posted completion date recently, they are giving themselves more time than they need and it will actually open earlier. A person can dream!

It does need to redoing for sure and hopefully they will improve on their menu offerings....one can hope.

wow, a whole year! I had never eaten there but now i'll be curious to see what the new place looks like!

Hope springs eternal.

Seriously; while I know it's a favorite restaurant of many here, I've heard more horror stories -- especially those involving food poisoning -- about this one restaurant than all the others combined.

Nine Dragons is at the top of my "Places to Avoid" list.

I've always had good luck there. In fact, it's one of the places with availability on the 'day of' sometimes. My guess would be that people think it's not as exotic as other food. 'I can get Chinese food at my local mall' some might think... right?

As much as we enjoyed this restaurant, it does need some work done.

My guess is that right now it's one of the less successful WS restaurant and Disney wants it to be more of a money maker.

I think you're info is wrong about Nine Dragons closing for a year

I just made a Dinner reservation with disney dining (called the official number)

for May 6th.

so apparently its open

One thing I learned about Disney is.....Get atleast 3 different CMs to answer your question before you make a decision.

Take the answer that is 2 out of 3!

ETA- I just noticed how old the original post was....

I believe it closes at the end of May 2008 & reopen in the late fall. But I wouldn't eat there as we don't like it:lmao: But each to their own. Maybe with the new redo it will be better one can hope :confused3

I just now notice this :) I have noticed it in a few other posts as well. ;)

Please post data to back up the stories.

My parents are in disney this week and ate lunch at Nine Dragons on Monday. They said it was really good as usual.

The "data" you requested is anecdotal from multiple friends and family (i.e. "I ate there and got really sick!") I thought my original post stated that; if not, then I apologize.

You are, of course, welcome to eat at Nine Dragons whenever you like -- and you might have a real nice meal. You just won't be seeing me there.

Ate at Nine Dragons back in 2003 and we weren't really impressed. The dim sum was really good, but the rest of the food was just average, especially for the price. Maybe we just have really good Chinese restaurants in our area.

We ate there in Oct 07. The food was delish!!!!! We would go back there without a doubt. Hopefully it is a full remodel with more restrooms. They share restrooms with the CS. I know-too much information!
