Nikon D60 help needed

I am working on figuring out my D60. I have lenses from 35mm Nikon which I have figured out how to use on my D60 except for the auto focus.

Can anyone tell me will the auto focus work on the D60? They are Nikkor lenses if that helps.

I'm not a Nikon owner but from what I've read on here, on the D60 auto focus only works if the AF motor is in the lens as the D60 body doesn't have an auto focus motor.

Ah-ha...Hmmmm so with my 35mm the motor was probably in the camera body and not in the lens which means.....the af will not work with the D60.

Any Nikon people care to confirm this?

OH well..it's not like I can not use the lenses...just need to focus myself.

Correct! Even if the lenses are older AF lenses---while they will mount and meter with the D60, they will not autofocus. The only Nikon lenses that will autofocus with the D40, D40x and D60 are AF-S and AF-I lenses.

It's a bit late now...but if you're really attached to using a 35 mm lens... Nikon WILL be releasing one that is DX compatible in March. As I understand it, it should retail for about $200.

Yep I was fortunate to hear this before buying and upgraded to D80 before purchasing. I don't mind manual focus but with moving models its nice to have auto.
