I asked this on the community board, and someone suggested perhaps someone here could help.

My chip keeps repeating Paula Radcliffe congratulating me on another 500 kilometers. While I am more of a distance runner, I'm not running a 500K every day! No more Lance Amstrong telling me I've had my fastest mile or my lngest run. Just Paula stuck in some sort of a demented loop. I tried the button on the bottom of the sensor, and I tried resetting the calibration and recalibrating. Any ideas?

I use the Nike+ but haven't had any problems so far. The program for the unit is stored on your Ipod. You could try restoring you ipod to see if this helps. If you bought it at an Apple store, they will have a record of when you bought it and if it is less than a year old, it is still under warranty. You would have to make a genious bar appt. to have them trouble shoot the problem.

I'm bumping this for poor Green Tea who isn't feeling any love right now. I know there are a few more WISHers who have these Nike+ things.

I've had mine for a little over a year and I haven't had any problems with it. Sorry I could not be of any help...

I've only had it 3 months so the warranty should kick in. Got it at a Fleet Feet though, not Apple so not sure who would cover the replacement. Still stracks everything correctly, I did aparantly impress Paula enough for her to complement me daily!

Thanks Honeibee and others!

I have had mine for 1-1/2 years and have never had that problem either. Have you sent you times in on iTunes to be logged? That might clear the problem too. I wish I could impress someone like that!:rotfl:

I got lots of sympathy, but no help. I've only had mine a couple of weeks. I've lost two runs due to iPod Nano "freezes" -- don't know why. Someone recommended I go to the Apple store as well, but there's not one any closer than an hour drive and I'm just not that motivated as long as it works most of the time (which it seems to).

I wish I could help more. That sounds like a frustrating problem.

I'll see if I can get my daughter to reply to this thread. She is an Apple employee, not a Genius, but she may be able to give you some hints of things to try.

Paula talked to me today, and not with her usual, trite saying! I did a longer run than I have with the chip and I got a congratulaion, that was your longest run message. So yeah, Paula is out of her loop!:) Now, I would like to hear from Lance Armstrong again.....

Paula talked to me after every run for a couple months with that message. Then my fastest mile time disappeared and now Lance talks to me after every run. It's a bit annoying, but I'm over it...

I think mine had something to do with plugging it into my computer (that's why it stopped). I have lost all my workouts, then had them pop back up randomly. All sorts of things can happen with this little gadget! Which, is probably why we only paid $30 for it.

Good luck!

P.S. Have we had any Disboard challenges with the Nike+ recently?

Paula was back today with her usual, Hope you're feeling great because you have completed another 500 kilometers. Ya know, I'm starting to think Paula doesn't care if I am feeling great or not. I think I'm offended!!;)

No tips, but you know, I get all excited when Paula or Lance talks to me. I turned it off after my longest run and was all mad at myself for forgetting to listen. How pathetic is that?!

I called my mom once to tell her that Lance congratulated me and she thought I was talking about a real guy on an exercise bike at the gym... by the time I finished explaining it, I just felt like the biggest dork. :lmao:

I hope Paula eventually recovers her senses.;)

DH got a nike+ for Christmas and LOVES it - he wants to get me one for my bd but I have an iPod video, not a nano - anyone know if it will work with that? I know the cords are the same size.

Thanks!

I have had my nike+ for a little over a year now, and the only problem I had was that the battery on the sensor was low and had to be replaced, only problem is you can't replace the battery, you have to buy a whole new set. I love my Nike+, not sure how I would do without it.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help with your problem, but I would suggest taking it to the apple store, although I am not sure they would be of much help as nobody seemed to know much when I went in about my low battery in mine. You may want to call first and see if you can get an answer.

Hope you get it worked out!

I have had my NikeSport for about 9 months and have not had that exact problem, but I'd being really questioning Paula's math by now! :) Seriously, I haven't had any real problems YET except for not being able to calibrate the unit to a pace that I trust to be accuarate, but again only $30 so I can't whine too much.
On the bright side, you can now buy a replacement for the sensor only but you have to order it online from Apple or Nike I think...
Good luck! Oh, BTW, we can use the ipod without headphones, right? Or do people not really abide by that "no headphones" thing? Just asking. I was planning on turning on the unit but not using the headphones.

Use the headphones, just be certain you can also hear stuff around you in case I come by and want to chat. Oh wait, you'll be way ahead of me and won't hear me anyway!

i just got nike plus too and love it, especially having an american accent telling me how i'm doing at the push of a button! It's like being in america already!!!!

No problems yet, does seem odd that you can't replace the batteries in these things tho. The best advice is to reset ur ipod or make sure it's got latest updates maybe? I would love a nike plus challenge (maybe not quite yet tho, give me a chance lol).

Lily, you're very sweet and encouraging. I suspect I'll be chasing after you! :cool1:
I just read the packing thread and realized I better dowload more music to my ipod and make sure it's really well-charged! If only we humans came with a simple charge cord! :lmao:
