A little birdie tells me there are night time special shows at Animal Kingdom now like WISHes and Illuminations in its sister parks... is this true?

Any help would be appreciated!

Rivers of Light is the only actual show. It is a water and light show with no fireworks (because of the proximity to the animals). It is very calm and serene, but very beautiful. Some people find it boring as it is not your usual bombastic Disney show. If you want to see it, you should definitely get a FaspPass for it or get there very early. The seating areas are small.

There is also Tree of Life Awakenings, which is random projections onto the tree that make the animals move and such. There is no need for special seating or viewing for this as it can be seen frequently from anywhere you can see the tree.

Just saw Rivers of Light earlier this month. Once was enough as this just isn't the type of show we find worth repeating unless there are future changes. But we're glad to have seen it once. The safari after dark is also relatively new. We did enjoy that.

After dark safaris? Never heard of those! I take it from these responses that the park is open later?

Yes, now that they have Pandora and RoL they are typically keeping AK open later. Pandora glows at night and they did add some "sunset" lightning to the Safari to keep it open later. I have heard that it is hard to see any animals though, and some of the daytime animals are put up for the night.

I can tell you from first-hand experience that the KS after dark is a waste of time. Couldn't see anything! I've read that the safari's at dusk are pretty cool though.

I agree. I think one is better off enjoying Pandora, the Tree of Life, and RoL after dark instead of the safari, which is a long rids as it is. If you can time it right at dusk though I could see that being a good time to do it.
