Nighttime in the Magic Kingdom from the 1970's

I really miss all the trees in the Hub, with the twinkling firefly lights and all. It was so magical.

Thank you.
I loved looking at all the pictures as well as the ones in the link at the bottom.
THANK YOU!

MK at night is one of my favorite places in the world. :) I love the greenery and trees around the Hub that used to be there.

Thanks so much for sharing. :goodvibes

OMG, the Tomorrowland slide is breathtaking. That entrance with the pylon fountains was one of the most beautiful pieces of theme park architecture ever. Even though I still enjoy Tomorrowland, it's a little sad to see what replaced that part of it.

I looked at the photos before scrolling the replies and was going to say exactly this. Sure do miss the old Hub look. :sad2:

Beautiful photos, Scott, thanks for sharing these additional ones.

Loved the old hub when it had trees! And the original Tomorrowland architecture just screamed the future which never was and this '70s kid thought it would be! Today's Tomorrowland looks kind of drab by comparison.

Wow...Thanks for the kind comments. I too miss a little bit of the "old days" in the Magic Kingdom.

I'm working on Adventureland! I'll let you guys know when those are ready!

Wow! Thanks for sharing these! They brought back so many fond memories. Saw some of the daytime ones also. They reinforced my memory that the park wasn't as crowded. And I loved all the Main Street vehicles! And the movie theater was a huge favorite, especially for my dad.

Tomorrowland poses such an interesting imagineering design challenge. How do you stay on top of what the future looks like? So Disney's choice is to opt for the nostalgic version of the future.

For all of you with eagle-eyes and the ones who can always find Waldo...

If you look at the straight on night shot of the castle with the trees in the hub look carefully...do you see yellow tape? Some construction? Keeping the tourists out while the photo shoot is going on?

It appears to end abruptly on the left side.

As i said, I enjoy the current Tomorrowland and of course I understand the challenge - how could anyone fail to? That doesn't mean they didn't replace a magnificent piece of architecture in one style with a less-well-executed one in another.

In other words, you don't miss High-Quality-A as much if it's replaced with High-Quality-B. If it's replaced with Mediocre-B, you notice.
