Hello! New member here, but life long Disney fan!

I had a question about the holiday version of the Haunted House featuring The Nightmare Before Christmas. We're taking a trip next week and it'll be my son's first time there. I have never been to the park during this time of year and always wanted to see it decked out, but my question is regarding whether it would be suitable for my 2.5 year old son or not and if I should just stick to the "happier" rides. He's pretty big into the Avengers and loves the Hulk, so he isn't too easily scared, but I just don't know if he'd freak out on this version of Haunted Mansion or if he'd dig it.

Any suggestions from you regular parkgoers who have some insight or observation of others what would be recommended?

My only other issue is my Son's a mega big Cars fan and wish there was 4" platform shoes he could wear to make up for the 40" requirement for Racers, haha! I know he'll have a ton of fun just walking around and going on the smaller rides. It will be a bit of sensory overload and have been reading up on some very helpful tips for toddlers and taking EVERYTHING into high consideration. I've been to Disney a bunch of times, but this will be a new experience having a child.

Thanks!

My daughter went on it at 2 1/2 and has loved it ever since. She also knew the movie before hand

At 2.5 I tried to take DS onto Haunted Mansion, everyone screamed in terror in the stretching room, and by the time we got near the doombuggies he was freaking out so badly I had to take him through the exit. Which was long and dark and scary and we were BOTH freaked by the time we finally got outside.

He is still not a fan of the ride because he simply cannot comprehend why grown adults are SO frightened in the stretching room. I would strongly recommend ear-covering for him so the screams don't freak him out as much as they might.

Because you won't even GET to the NBC stuff if he flips out in the stretching room.

But if he's a heartier 2 year old than mine was, he might very well love it. It's BRIGHT colors, fun music, etc, and not so creepy. Though...honestly Tim Burton makes creepy things very well. NBC is the only Burton movie I can deal with, and it took a year of being near the movie being showed all the time (DS and DH love it) to even get to this point. Seeing the preview of Frankenweenie nearly made me physically ill. Bleah.

but the NBC version is fun and bright and almost cheery-sounding. It's the only way DS happily rides HM anymore. He's *going to* ride it at MK next month (WDW doesn't have the NBC overlay), but there were bribes involved. :)

I think the Nightmare Before Christmas version is a little less scary than the regular because it is more bright and colorful, with slightly friendlier music. I would play it by ear and try something like Peter Pan (in the dark), then Pirates and work your way up to see how he handles those first. Good luck- it's awesome!

The stretching room has NBC stuff plus they added Zero in the stretching room this year

Only the original Disneyland [well and Tokyo Disneyland]

Great thanks. We are leaving for WDW next weekend and I was going to be bummed if it was changed.
