I've got a couple questions regarding the Night of Joy concerts this September.
1) Does anyone know if DVC members would get a discount on ticket prices?
2) The concerts are September 9th and 10th, does anyone have reservations or know what room availability is like for that time of year?

Any other info anyone can provide is greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!
Jess

Jess, when we lived in the area, we went to Night of Joy every year. I've never known Disney to discount NOJ tickets except in the case of organized groups.

Church groups gobble up the value and moderates, but I'm guessing you won't have any trouble finding DVC space.

When we went last year the resorts were discounting the Thursday night tickets because of poor sales. That is probably why they went back to a two night event. We didn't have any trouble booking BCV two months out. It was an awesome time and well worth it being able to not only hear the music but ride all the rides and dance with all the characters to Christian Music. What a blast!

We were also at NOJ last year, we purchased two night tickets in advance and didn't get any kind of DVC discount. We stayed at BCV and, even though we only booked about six weeks in advance we had no problem getting a reservation. It was a very quiet time at WDW, but that could have been due to the hurricanes that had just been through the area.

We didn't have APs at the time, and one thing we didn't know is that with the NOJ ticket you can get into the MK as early as 4 p.m. We would have taken advantage of that if we had known earlier.

My best friend, booked our September 2005 trip back in like Jan.2005 for us to stay at the Beach Club~DVC And we are also going to be going to Night of Joy, for both nights( this all of our first times going to Night of Joy, we can't wait!!!!!) I have already bought are Night of Joy tickets, as I heard they sell out fast. There are 4 of us going.

It was a close call last year, I was afraid they'd cancel Night of Joy with the hurricanes causing damage around Orlando and Kiss. But it went as planned and it was wonderful! I've never heard of any discount on tix either, but I sure wouldn't mind a blessing in that regard!

Hey There:

The only way to get a discount is to order 10 or more - you get one free with every 10 - last year we had 12 so that worked great. Eveyone has to buy the same type to get it. It is so much fun - we went last year and had a great time - it was so fun to walk down main street listening to christian music. We booked it pretty much last minute as well - due to the hurricanes I think attendance was pretty low especially the first night.

Those that have done the NOJ before, how crowded does it get? I wouldn't assume that we would want to go on the rides, during the concerts. However in case there was an artist, that we didn't care for, :blush:I'm thinking we could ride for a while, than come back. So my question is, is it so crowded, that once you leave the stage area, it's impossible to get up again. Is it busy, like 4 July busy? And about how many songs does one band/singer do? ( so to know, if we did walk off, when to return) Do any of them, sing together, like say at the end. That would be neat to see and hear.
I have been wanting to go to Night of Joy so bad. But before now, it was hard, with Ds just getting back to school. But starting this fall we are homeschooling, so it would work. BUT we already booked a trip at the end of October. So not too feasible to go back down a month before. But I'm :wizard: hoping some great sales for flying, and perhaps just spend 2 nights there.
I was telling DH today, don't get me anything for my birthday this summer, and with those saving along with our anniversary in September, we can use the NOJ for our anniversary celebration. We will see. :rolleyes2

Hey Kerlynne, we are just starting to homeschool too! Actually, we pulled our two youngest kids out of public school in April, and my older two finished the year but will not be returning in the fall. We already have a VWL trip booked for this December, but maybe we could catch NOJ in 2006!!! I just love the feeling that now we can schedule trips anytime we want and not have to worry about the school schedule. That is not the main reason we are starting to homeschool, we have lots of academic, social, and religious reasons for doing it, but it is a great added benefit :Pinkbounc Best wishes to you, we are enjoying homeschooling already! I am learning a lot right along with the kids!!!

Let's see... last years NOJ was rained on but it was still a blast.
There was a discount for AP holder on the first night I think, but you can only buy when you were at the resort.

The way the concert is set up: There are several stages in MK going on at the same time with different groups/artists. So the chances are there will be at least 1 (or in my case 2 or 3) artist you would want to hear at the same time. They will give you a schedule at the front of the gate where and when each artist is going to be.

Last year was my first time and I had a wonderful time even being rained on... :)

If Michael W Smith is playing it will rain. His comment last year was that every time he plays WDW it rains. Most of the E ticket rides are open and they are not crowded at all. There is also a set up in Fantasyland near Ariel's grotto that the kids get to dance with their favorite characters to christian music. My DD had a great time dancing with Minnie, Mickey, Goofy and Chip and Dale. We did ride the rides when there was an overlap of shows. Most of the larger name bands play two sets so after we had seen one set we went to ride. They have 4 stages. One at the castle, one at the carousel of progress, one in adventureland near the log flume and one in the galaxy cafe. Adventureland usually has the younger bands, the castle and carousel of progress has the headliners and the galaxy cafe has most of the groups that sound great doing acoustic music. My advice though is not to do the parks during the day- you will be too exhausted and any child with you to really enjoy NOJ if you have been running in the parks all day. Sleep in, take it easy by the pool and get ready to have a blast all night.

I think we are going take the dive, and end up going this year! :hyper:
Just found a flight out, which would be about $50each way down. Only disadvantage is we will have to fly out of Phila. But think I may have to over look that pain, knowing we may be able to get down. Are we crazy to put the money down to go, since we will only make it a quick weekend trip; being we will be back down in October for a week. We are already driving down this Oct to save money. We will make this our anniversary present. Which studio would be the best one? We have only stayed in 1 bedroom, since we usually have our dh with us. I'm thinking of BCV. Hope there are rooms still left! Wish we had ability to have our DVC rooms with concierge, for reasons like this. I really want to spend our points to stay at Polynesian, that way, we can take mono to MK those nights of the concerts. We probably won't waste any tickets during the days. But once Dh saw the points, more less on the weekends:eek: , but once he saw the points for the concierge,:faint: well lets just say, with our 150 points, that would limit next year plans to go next year.
Would you jusify the trip? I do think it's a trip dh could use to get away, with just us two.
I keep telling myself, the Lord would be happy, as we are makeing this trip to praise Him, during the concerts! :goodvibes

Hey Kerlynne!

We've been homeschooling now for 4 years and love it also. We have gone to WDW in October, December and February. All great times to go and points are not very high. Crowds are very low.

My oldest is in 8th grade and youngest in 6th. We have good days and bad, but all in all we enjoy it.

Good luck this fall.

Deb
