I know Jim's record is bad, but there was a LOT of evidence that this was being considered from numerous sources. My guess is that this probably got pretty far along in the process... probably to the final approval/pitch stage, but with the economy in the toilet, they decided against it.

There are a lot of places that provide the swimming with the dolphins. Its not common, but its not even remotely unique to Discovery COve.

Actually, the Cap Jack thing is "more" unique. I can rattle off a half a dozen places that I can find a dolphin encounter, but the only entity that can give me a party with the Captain himself is Disney.

Heck the Dolphin meet they do in the living Seas costs half of what Discovery Cove wants - granted it's not swimming with... but you can do the swim thing on cruise excursions for less too.
