I guess, as they say , "Your Mileage May Vary". I am just celebrating getting a 4% discount yesterday for paying cash at a hole in the wall bbq fast food restaurant in a town of about 4,000. Small town America. How small was the restaurant? No indoor seating so we ate our meals on wrought iron tables outside on a 51 degree day.

Is the cash discount not common? In my area, suburbs of a large metro area, as well as in the metro, it is acceptable to ask for the cash discount on everything from food to services as well as at Macy’s.

Some places offer it, hard to measure if it is common or uncommon. More common in my estimation that credit card only places. Wow, I have never heard of Macy's offering a cash discount. Has anyone else? What city are you in> Last time I was in their I was offered a 15% discount if I used Macys credit card.
