Nick Hotel

We were there Dec. 3-10. Rooms are ok, somewhat small. We had a kids suite which had a bedroom with bunk beds and a tv, our bedroom with a king, and a living room with a sofa. Nice looking waterpark/pool but it was too cold for us to use. The restaurant had breakfast buffet at 9.95 for adults and kids eat free, and the food was ok, typical breakfast foods. The main restaurant had a nick characters breakfast and dinner buffets each evening. We had seafood buffet on Fri. night with shrimp, crab legs, and prime rib for 22.95 and the kids got to eat free off a kids menu (12.95 if they wanted the buffet). There are activities for the kids, such as movies and gameroom and a food court with Pizza Hut and A & W. We would probably not stay there again only because we don't spend much time there and there are other places that would be less expensive.

stayed there last year after 4 night cruise. kids loved the pool and activities around the pool :thumbsup2 ; but most of time we were at universal - did not like the crowds at hotel (we stayed end of january), kidssuites nice, but not that big (we had family of 5). kids eat free is nice; however, food was not that good, i was not impressed with buffet dinner, and it would have been just as inexpensive to go to a nicer restaurant and pay for kids - also the restaurant was very busy.
They did have pizza hut on site which was nice, and kids eat free at pizza hut. they have game room and nick things going on at night. the kids loved it, so i guess that is what counts most. we are heading to disneyworld next november as part of a convention trip, and are looking into winsdor hills townhouse with more room and splash pool  i do think with just the three of you, the size of room will be more than adequate, and the food may work out for you.

I was just there from 12/22-12/25. By reading these boards I got a great deal called the Fall Special and paid $169 for the first 2 nights and got the 3rd night FREE! We had the Jimmy Neutron 2bdrm kidsuite. We were at Royal Pacific from 12/16-12/22 and did US/IOA, so we were prepared to just stay at Nick and enjoy everything they offer without going to the parks, although we did go to a dinner show (Otta Control Magic @ Wonderworks).
My tip to you is to not try to drag the kids to the parks... your kids will have so much fun at the pool (it's like a mini waterpark and all the kids get slimed every afternoon at 4:45) and doing the activities and nightly games and seeing the shows, that they won't want to leave. I heard many parents get frustrated because their kids didn't want to go to Disney, so just enjoy the hotel and relax. I think your kids are the perfect age to go, too.

Joey's Mom is right, The Nick hotel is enough entertainment for the kids by itself for a day or 2. Don;t try and get more than 3 full days out of it, but but don;t waste the money on it if it's just a place to sleep while going to the Parks down there :).

We go every year in August and my kids won't stay anyplace else. Here are a few tips. If it is warm enough to use the pool, get a room on the lagoon side. The pool is larger, has more extras like the mini golf and such and the water tower you see in all the ads is on that side. The other side also has slides but not the tower, and is smaller. My kids never want to leave the pool area and we are always there until the last minute heading to the airport, of course the weather is not a factor for us unless it is a thunder storm. There is plenty to do there at the hotel. We have never even made it to the nighttime shows that are free but you should try. With us the pool is open until 11 so it makes it difficult. As for food, the "mall" is fine but nothing special. They now make the kids eat free off a menu (used to be the buffet) and kids over 12 (I have a 15yo) will never eat enough to cover an adult price. I did recommend to them and interim price for teens but no go as of yet. We ate off site more and the kids loved it. We went to Cici's and Moes which are right down the street in Old Town. We also frequented the 7 Eleven on the corner of 535 for icee's since they were dirt cheap and we can't get them here like that. All in all, we love the Nick Hotel, and I can't wait to get back there. We stay the week and do Disney or whatever else and come back and use the pool and head out for dinner and stuff. The pool games and crafts are great (crafts you pay for) and the kids have a blast. The rooms are not terribly small and I think you still have more room than just a regular hotel room. We do fine for 4 of us. My oldest (15) sleeps on the pull out couch, I have the master and my other 2 kids have the bunk beds or one of them sleeps with me. Now they have changed the TV in the sitting area to a flat screen on the wall so there is more room with the TV stand not in the room. Another tip is that we request bldg 13 or 14 on floor 4 or 5 facing the Marriott (highway) so that we can watch the fireworks from Disney at night (you can see 2 of them) without being in the massive crowds. We used to see Seaworld's too at the same time but last time we didn't catch them. Hopefully in my rambling I gave you something useful. I am happy to answer any specific questions if you have any, just let me know. Have a great time or as they say, the slime of your life!

Thanks for all the info, I have a couple of questions.

We're thinking of going for a couple of nights in August as well. How is the price? How are the crowds at the pool?

I think I heard about a kids spa there where they can get their nails done. Do you have any idea how much they charge?

Where exactly is it located? What is nearby?

Thanks!!!

I am happy to help. If you have stayed there before, they give you a discounted rate (called a blast back package) but you have to call to get it, adn you have to know about it. My original price was something like $172/night for a 2 bed room suite with bunk beds. Closer to the time we went, the price went down to $142 for weekends and $140 for Sunday-Thursday and they gave me the lower price. We stayed a whole week for about $950. You just have to watch the prices online and keep checking.

As for crowds at the pool, Saturday is the worst but this time they were managable. A lot depends on if they have a birthday party going on. It was busy on the weekends but during the week, not so bad at all. I will say, this past August the weather was not as warm as previous years so maybe that had something to do with it to.

They do have a kids spa but I do not know what they charge. They do hair wraps at the pool so you could do that without even leaving the pool area. The crafts run from a few dollars to about $10 and I think for a tye dyed tshirt we paid $14. Again those are right at the pool. All of the pool games are free as well as the mini golf, basketball, pool tables and anything else right there in the pool area.

As far as location, you are about 1 mile from Disney. From the buildings we were in we could clearly see Downtown Disney and fireworks from MGM & MK at night. We were on the lagoon side facing the Marriott on the upper floors. You can be at Disney in about 5 minutes. It was surprisingly easy to navigate around there as everything is very well labeled. US, IOA, and SW are a short drive on the I4 and Old Town (great area for eating) is about 5 minutes as well. There is also a super Walmart about 5 minutes in the other direction. You are just down the street from the Gaylord Palms and across from the Marriott World Center.

Hopefully that helps. I am thinking of yet another surprise trip (at some point they will no longer be surprised) in August so maybe we will see you there! Enjoy!!:)
