We are staying the weekend of April 25th for two nights...Not going to the parks just relaxing at the pool, my DH has a conference - Now it is spring breatk in the NY/NJ area...do I need to make reservations in advance for resturants or the shows there? Thanks

i believe that you can only make reservations for the shows while you are staying there, not way ahead of time. im going to be staying before you so i will let you know! i will also call them tommorow

Hmm we were there the first week of April. But we did not do the shows or character meals. BUT I was told weekends were super busy. If I had wanted to do the character meal I would only have gotten in the breakfast at like 7! I would call, I know the line for the shows to wait to try and get in was long. ALSO A LOT of schools here on the East coast have that week leading up to your weekend off.
But on a side note if you have never been it is a super fun hotel! Not sure of your kids ages. But mine had a blast 2 years ago at 3 and 4.5 then this time at 6.5 and 5 and even LO at 16 months LOVED the pool. See if you can get a room by one of the pools if you want to be close. Oh and if You want a chair YOU NEED to go to the pool and get them by like 9-9:30 right when it opens. SERIOUSLY peole will go and save like 10 chairs and if you get there anytime later than like 10:30 good luck getting one! So I would take a walk put a towel on my 2 chairs and then go get the kids ready. Just my advice I learned! The Oasis pool is more for the bigger kids, the other Lagoon maybe is more for the younger ones as far as the slide things.

I work at the Nick Hotel, so hopefully I can help you out.

I would reccomend making reservations for the shows. We do have a stand by line, but if the weather is bad, etc that line fills up real quick! After you check in, head to the mall area and you can make reservations at guest relations.

Some other tips- be sure to check out the workshop! It's by the Oasis pool and is great to get out of the sun for a little. On the weekends our most popular crafts are tye-dye shirts and buld a buddy (a build a bear type thing).

As for the resturants, I'm sure it's better to make a reservation!

You can make breakfast ressies in advance.....so I'd go ahead and do that if you want a seating at the character breakfast. I don't think you NEED to, per se...but you can, so why not.

The shows you can only reserve when you get there, not before.

we stayed there last year, when making ressies DW asked if she needed to sign our DS up at that time for anything that takes place, she was told no that we could sign our son up at check in. Big lie!! When we checked in we asked if we could sign our son up for anything that was taking place during our stay, we were told that we should have done that when we made our reservations:confused:  . If this wasnt a special part of the trip just for him we would have left. This has left a very bitter taste towards the Nick hotel with us. Why could the person making the reservations not have this information? Call it poor planning on our part, but the person taking our resevation should have this knowledge and nowhere on the website did it say anything about signing up prior to our arrival.
