Despite everything the show must go on! We are having an at-home party for everyone who can't come to the wedding. Since we are both from Michigan, and the winter is not our favorite time there, we decided to have the party in the summer. A little unorthodox, but Fourth of July is my favorite time in northern Michigan. So I found a cute poem on line somewhere and invited everyone. Our families and friends are pretty laid back, so I don't think anyone will say anything about having the party before we are married.

These are the invitations we made for the party.

They are a petal fold and the scroll design is similar to what we are using on all our other wedding stuff. My brother and parents are throwing the party for us, so they ultimately sent out the invites.

We are going to do a candy buffet at the party also. Home Goods had a great sale on some awesome jars last weekend Once I add some ribbon, I will post a photo.

The postage for our wedding invitations came in too. So I can finish those up and send out in early June. We set the RSVP date for the end of July for our first round. We have a pretty good idea of who is coming, but there are still a few that we need to nail down. So this way we can send out the second round with plenty of time for them to get their rooms before we cut down our room block.

Woo Hoo for some good news! Our floral came in only $30 over budget!!!

I would prefer that our family and guests don't look at our BEOs.

That being said, other brides' BEOs were so helpful when we were preparing our budget, I have posted it on the "Share your budget?" thread for other brides.

Thank you so much! After a little time everything has now worked itself out and I officially have 5 bridesmaids!!

I had dinner with two of them last night, including one who I was unsure about. She said she talked with her doctor and will be done with her treatments by October and she wouldn’t miss it! I really think that made my month!

I finally finished our invitations!!!

We are doing pocket invites with separate cards for the RSVP, Schedule of Events and “Additional Information” (with info about tickets, accommodations, etc.). I am so pleased with how they turned out!

We put a wax seal on the inner envelope:

and ordered special postage:

I am so relieved to get these done! We are planning on sending them out in a couple weeks -- so I was actually done ahead of schedule

On a separate note, we got our first shower gift in the mail. I don’t know why we weren’t expecting it, but it was a total surprise!! We both thought it was some favors we ordered and were completely caught off guard by it. Now it all feels so real!
