Nicholas (almost 16) is in renal failure as you might remember from my previous posts. He usually likes to go outside in the morning for an hour or so, then come right in for the day. We live in the country so it's not a big issue, or hasn't been for 6 and a half years.
For the last week or so, he hasn't looked good, sunken eyes, lackluster fur, etc... As far as I can tell, he has stopped eating for the past two or three days. He has lost about a pound since the weekend. The Sub Q fluids we are giving him 2x a week don't seem to be doing the trick anymore.
This morning, he went out at 8am and hasn't been back since. This is very unusual for him as he really likes to sleep in the house. My fear, my gut instinct, is that he has gone somewhere to die and I didn't say goodbye yet.
So, could I have some "Come home, Nicholas" thoughts so that I can at least say goodbye to him and hug him if he chooses that he is ready?
I'm so worried.
