'm hearing all these bad things about cast-members now-a-days! The cast members have been nothing but great when i have been there. Soooo....

What is the nicest thing a cast member has ever done for you or your family?

Mine was when the manager of a store in mgm gave my son and daughter free pin lanyards with their names on it. When we went to pick them up the cast member asked what ride we wanted to ride but could'nt. We said rock n' roller coaster! (It had been broken down) She got all of us fast passes!! :wizard:

We had just finished dinner at Earl of Sandwich in DD, and my DD and I strolled into Mickey's Pantry (which is attached to Earl) to look around while my parents and DH finished their dinners. I was browsing the magnets while DD struck up a conversation with the two CM's working there. I didn't hear the beginning of the conversation, but when I went to join her at the counter, the CM's were telling her she must be a princess, and since she was a princess, they must get her autograph. They then pull out an autograph book from under the counter and had her sign her name and where she was from. They were so sweet, and went on and on about how honored they were that she signed their book, and they were so happy to have met her. They finished it off with a Magical Moments certificate, and a pin of her choice from their lanyards. It was so neat, because DD had really done nothing more than say hello to them, and they decided to make her feel really special in return. That's Disney Magic!!

The manager at San Angel Inn made us feel very special!

A few years ago when DH and I were having dinner at SA Inn, the little boy at the table next to us stood up and got sick. The Mother rushed him off to the restroom, but the Dad was a real jerk. Sat there fuming. (by the way the staff had immediately gone into action, poured sawdust ((or something)) over the mess and cleaned it up, doing it as quickly and unobtrusively as possible) When Mom returned with son, she suggested she take him back to the room, Dad complained how horrible it was that he ruined a nice meal by being sick! And he rufused to leave, he would meet them back at the room after he had his meal. He then proceeded to sit there and eat angrily until he finally just got up and threw his napkin down and stomped off.

Our waiter came up to us during this and asked if everthing was OK, I told him everything was fine. (We have 6 children and 11 grandchildren. A child being sick is something we totally understand!) The waiter kept coming back asking if we were OK. Each time I said yes, really, everything was fine. Then he came back saying if we would like, the manager would like to buy us a another margaritta. We accepted, but told him it really wasn't necessary. We were fine! Then the manager came up. He wanted to make sure we were OK. We thanked him for the drinks and again said it was unnecessary. After dinner he came back and said he was having special desserts made for us. After the desserts he asked me if I had ever had Mexican coffee. He then proceeded to make us special coffees from his family recipe. At the end of the evening we thanked him for his kindnesses. He thanked us for our attitude. I told him that I really didn't understand that. A child was sick! That wasn't the responsibility of the restaurant! He said many would not have looked at it that way, and that was why he was thanking us.

Needless to say, whenever we are at WDW we always have a meal at SA Inn.

We had a CM show up at our door and sing Happy Anniversary to us along with presenting a card w/signed photo of Mickey & Minnie - we had noted our anniversary on our reservation, but didn't expect that!

It was truly a magical moment!

dh and i were on our honeymoon. the first day that we were there, we checked in around 11am and were told that our room was not ready yet. they offered to hold our luggage for us with bell services. we went off to the parks. we had a nice time :flower: , when we came back to the resort at around 8pm, they said that our room was still not ready. i asked if we could have our luggage because i wanted to change out of my sweaty clothes from the parks in to some nicer clothes to go out for dinner in. they lost our luggage. at this point i was keeping my cool, because i know that things happen. :confused3 i asked to speak to a manager to see if maybe he could do something in helping to find our luggage. he came out and said, "i am sorry that your room is still not available, and that your luggage is lost. but these things happen and there is nothing i can do." he walked away without waiting for my response. i just stood there with my mouth open:confused: . i have never had anyone treat me the way i was just treated. what kind of customer assistance was that?

we went to downtown to find a place to eat, we walked into Team disney. as we were making a purchase, the cm asked how our stay has been so far. my dh started telling her what had just happened to us. she was shocked that a manager had treated us this way. she asked us to wait a minute, she left to go to a back room. when she came back, she came with her manager. he told us how sorry he was for our experience, and offered us each pick out a tshirt in the store, and it would be his wedding gift to us. the concern and generosity of these employees just brightened our evening. we made sure to write down the names of those cm's and wrote a letter to disney commending them. :sunny: :goodvibes :cheer2:

our luggage was not found until around 12 midnight... couldn't go to bed because i could not shower and had no clothes to change into.

the next day, we were wearing our hats, at mgm heading to go on rock n rollercoaster. we were stopped by a cm at tower of terror. she asked us if we were planning to go on tower of terror later. i told her that we were going to try and go after we saw the beauty and the beast show. she pulled us to the side and gave us non-expiring fast passes (they were different passes), and said congradulations to us on our wedding.

also... on our honeymoon, standing in line for the indiana jones show, a cm pulled my dh and i out of the line and placed us in a special reserved section in the second row. we were way in the back of the line and would have been seated in the very top somewhere.

with the exception of that one incident of a bad experience, i have always had pleasent encounters with cm's. yet, it never ceases to amaze :earseek: me how thoughtful and kind some of the other cm's will be. i think that these cm's still way out number the grouchy ones. for that i am greatful :cool1: :cool1:

My two DSs and I were waiting in back of the ticket booths for DH to park the car...he had dropped us off for a reason I now can't remember. Anyway, a manager struck up a conversation with my eldest son. We all chatted a couple of minutes and he gave both sons pick of a pin off his lanyard. Then my husband walked up. We chatted and he said, hang on a minute. He walked into the ticket booth and came back with what we now call the "golden ticket". He let my boys whatever ride they wanted (Buzz Lightyear) and we got the golden ticket to jump to the front of the line. We thanked him profusely, then he said hang on another minute. He got on his walkie talkie, then said, come 'on. He walked us up to the monorail from the wrong side and placed us in the front of the monorail with the driver as if we were VIPs. I think he may have even bumped off people who had been waiting to ride in the front. It was a magical day for us for sure! :goodvibes

On 1 trip with my in-laws, my mother in law was waiting in line at a counter service rest. in Animal Kingdom. When she was handed her soda, the CM dropped it and it splashed all over her and the floor.

About 5 mintues after we sat down with our food, the manager came over and asked my mother in law what size shorts she wore. He came back in 5 minutes with brand new AK shorts for her and asked if there was anything else they could do.

We then told him our kids were so anxious to see Buzz and Woody and asked where we could see them (obviously not in AK). He got onto his walkie talkie and asked around. A minute later, he gave us the exact time and location in MGM where we could see them that day.

Such excellent customer service!

There have been so many great CM moments, I'll just list a few highlights:

:cake: 1-Waitperson at HBD: To celebrate a birthday (Jim) in our group, he gave us 4 Fantasmic Dinner Package passes!

:love1: 2-CM at MK: Prior to opening, he stopped to talk with us at a waiting rope to Tomorrowland. After asking what ride we were hitting first (Buzz Lightyear) he wished us a good day. Upon exiting Buzz and heading back toward the bridge, I heard my name being called. He was running after our group to give us 6 fast passes for Space Mountain!

:jester: 3-Epcot CM at hat booth: Noticed I was wearing a particulart pin he liked and asked if I had it's mate. I didn't even know it HAD a mate. He then pulled one out of his pocket and gave it to me - just because!

:bday: 4-CM at MK: Noticed Jim wearing a "Today is my Birthday" button and stopped us to sing Happy Birthday. The reason this is special is that Disney no longer allows CM's to anything for birthdays except at character meals, etc. This gentleman was OUTSIDE the park and was off duty & headed home. But he stopped, bowed, sang in a beautiful baritone voice, bowed again, and went on his way!

:wizard: 5-Waitperson at California Grill: Heard us mention Jim's birthday when we checked in for dinner. Again, they are not supposed to make any 'hoopla' so she went out of her way to find us after we were seated at our table and brought a handful of 'pixie dust' to decorate our table.

princess: 6-Hostess at Cinderella's Castle: During our breakfast at the castle, this lady came to our table and presented Jim with 2 etched champagne flutes as a 'special treat' for his 60th!

:hyper2: 7-CM's that seat people for Fantasmic: Allowed us to sit 'anywhere we wanted' because we were the first guests to arrive with dinner passes (thanks to the CM at HBD). She even suggested the bench seats directly in front of a large wall section so we could lean back during our wait! What a grand back-saver that was. She also talked with us a great deal and told us many things about MGM in general and the show in particular.

:worship: 8-Segway Tourguides: Friendly, helpful and encouraging all through our Segway adventure. Took us on a 'side-tour' because we had progressed so well and we got to see...well, I can't tell you because they made us promise...but it was great!

 9-CM who does Goofy at Epcot: On a day that I BADLY needed a pep-up, he made sure that the chubby middle aged lady standing among all the munchkins got a big hug under the shade tree in Japan! Okay, I know he has to be nice to everyone (and there was that one instance of supposed groping by a now-unemployed Goofy) but HEY, this is my thank you to CMs & I want to include him here! He could have just patted my head or put his arm around me, but I told him I really needed a hug and I got several and it made my afternoon.

:scared1: 10-CM elevator operator at Tower of Terror: Mobbed with people on this particular day, we really wanted our friends to sit in the front for their 1st ToT experience. When we found ourselves about to be placed in a slot for the back, I started to say something to the CM when he casually said "why don't we have you folks wait for the next elevator...we have to make room for the ghosts waiting to ride in this one." What a nice treat!

:disrocks: And a special thanks to all the CM's who patiently listened to our stories, answered our questions, told us where to find the restrooms, rides, food places, etc., and to those who politely but FIRMLY enforce the parade route seating!

:thewave: And finally, a thank you to a WDW guest. At MK on a Spectro parade evening (which means great crowds), I was making my way from the train station where we were seated up Main street to by a hot dog. Somewhere along the way my Quick & Casual coupon had dropped from my pocket. Since that was the only form of payment I had, I quickly backtracked with the bizarre hope that it was laying on the ground somewhere - yeah, right!

As I was crossing the hub toward the base of the train station stairs, a man waved his arms to get my attention, then held up the voucher. He hurried over and explained he had seen the voucher fall when I had pulled my sunglasses from my pocket, but he couldn't get to either the voucher or me in time. A lady walking right behind me picked it up, looked at it, then put it into her purse. He actually approached this lady and suggested she give him the voucher and he would catch up to me and return it - and she did!

But by that time I had disappeared into the crowd. So he WAITED - right there in the middle of the street by the hub - for the almost 10 minutes it took me to realize it was missing and come back looking for it. I offered to bring him a beverage or something but he said no thanks, he was just doing the right thing.

So THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO DO THE RIGHT THING. It may not always be noticed and usually goes unhearlded, but know that it is appreciated. :cheer2:

Gotta love Disney CMs and all the happy guests, too! :earboy2: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earseek:

Just two weeks ago, we wanted to go to the MK and there were at least 150 people in the bus line for MK. So, thinking we were being coy, we took the bus to the studios because it was there with few people on it and it was the closest park to our hotel. We thought we could then catch a bus to MK. When we started to unload, we asked where would we find the MK bus. Our bus driver informed me that we had to go back to our resort.

So, we got back on. Well, he heard all the grumblings from DH and 3 DS's about how our schedule was off now because of me! Litttle did we know in our grumblings that he called dispatch and told them our story. They gave him permission to drive the five of us to MK! We were shocked! We could not thank him enough and he would not take a tip because he said they couldn't. So, just prior to the door closing, my DH threw him a tip and we ran. We were overwhelmed with this CM's kindness. I just wish I would of caught his name.

I have to say we've run into some great cm's. But these are the stories that stand out.

The cm on The great movie ride who noticed my sister's birthday button and made the train first wait while she got a birthday card that all the cm's working that day had signed AND THEN made the whole train say "Happy Birthday ______!!" To my sister's great embarassment.

The cm who kept my then 9 year old dd entertained while we waited for the train in MK. I have the greatest picture of her in his cap. He was so much fun.

And the cm in Epcot who when my husband asked if he could snap a picture of the two of on New Year's day, took the time to move us around until we got the most beautiful backdrop. That picture now sits on my desk at work.

Well, it wasn't directly for me, but it was the nicest thing I've ever heard and on my most magical day ever! As my ID says, we were married at WDW. Our reception was at Atlantic Dance and we had sitters for my niece, nephews and a few friends' children. My 6-year-old nephew was having soway too much fun, he didn't get to the bathroom in time and wet his pants. My sister ran to the store on the Boardwalk, found the nicest outfit she could and went to the counter to pay. She was relaying the story to the CM ringing her up and that wonderful CM handed her the outfit in the bag and said "it's on us -- now get back there and enjoy the reception" -- turned out she was the manager! My sister was floored and immediately came to tell me. I told the wedding coordinator how sweet it was and he did me the favor of delivering a piece of wedding cake to her! It turned a bad situation into a sweet memory (which my now almost 13-year-old nephew will NEVER live down!).

DH was sick one time and we were at LTT. She stopped by our table and was asking if everything was ok. DH didn't eat anything and we had full meals that the kids and I were eating. She felt so bad after we told her DH was going back to the hotel after lunch. She came back with passes for the kids to ride thier favorite rides (fast pass like passes) and she helped us change our dinner resservations that we had for dinner at CRT. It was Thanksgiving week and she got us in when we had called Dining and couldn't get another day. She was able to secure another night that week for us when we couldn't.

On our first trip to WDW we bought a passport for DD on the last day. We didn't realize it would take so long to get filled out. DD was sad that she needed only 2 more countries. So, someone helped us out and finished getting them for us and mailed it back to our house.

On the year my DH came home from Kuwait/Iraq after serving in Iraqi Freedom the first day we were at WDW that trip a CM came up to us and asked us if we had been on Splash mountain. We told her not this trip we had just arrived for our vacation. With a smile she escorted us right up to the front of the line through the exit and got us immediately on a boat. We were so impressed and it was a magical start to our vacation.

One year DH lost one of our Hopper Passes at a fast pass booth. We noticed it right away but it was no where to be found. A really nice CM at our hotel was nice enough to reissue it even though I had tried many guest relations places and no one would help us. She gave us passes for the ticket we lost for the rest of our vacation. It was not in our budget on that trip to buy a new pass. She was truly a lifesaver!!

There are so many instances where people go out of thier way to make our vacation magical. Now granted there are always those CM's that also try to damper it, but lukily the good CM's outweigh the bad ones. I guess that is why we go back year after year.

My DS1 and I both came down with a stomach bug on our first day at the Wilderness Cabins. We made it through the day and night, but it was not a good situation! I had to bag up some linens, etc., and leave them in the bathtub. We left an apology for HK, and a tip, but felt really bad.

We came back in that afternoon, after taking our walk, and the sweet HK had left not one but 2 beanies, and a signed pic. from Mickey and the gang for my poor sick little guy!

The nicest thing a CM did for us was at the WL. We showed up early to check in for our Woods View Room with bunk beds. Our son was looking forward to these all week. We had been at POFQ and this was my treat for everyone for our last night. Anyway the CM started to enter our info, and then asked us to wait a minute as he disappeared into the back to check on "something." He came back with a big smile and said, "Have I got a deal for you." He put us in a 1 bedroom Villa right then and there at 9;00 in the morning. DS (5 at the time) nearly cried when I told him he wouldn't get to sleep in bunk beds after all. DW loved it, and wanted to just stay there all day. Knucklehead warmed up to it when he saw the couch folded out and that he'd have "his own room with a TV."

On our last trip we got to chatting with a Security person, mostly about pins we were walking along and he asks what ride are we headed for. We say Splash, he walked us all the way from Main Street to Splash and into the back entrance loaded us right onto a log with no wait, we felt like VIP's!!

When we were at WDW in February, my son had a birthday. We didnt know that CMs were no longer allowed to make a big deal about birthdays, so we were a little irritated that not one person had acknowledged my ds' "Today is my birthday" pin. We went to see Crush at the Living Seas pavilion. I got in line to wait for the next show, my mom and the kids wandered over to the gift shop. I asked the CM at the front of the line to pass along to "Crush" that it was my sons birthday. He said he would, then disappeared for a couple of minutes. About 10 minutes later, the phone rang in the gift shop. The CM who answered the phone called out to my son "Are you Scott? Its for you!" The expression on my sons face made every penny we spent at WDW worth it. He went to the phone- it was Goofy. He said "I've been looking for you all day. I wanted to sing you Happy Birthday!" Which he then did. It was so great, my son felt so special. Now we have to go to WDW for my daughters birthday in November and hope for another great CM!!

We were at DL last May. We were all exhausted, and were going to watch Fantasmic. We were standing at the back. There was me, hubby, 2 kids, inlaws and 80 year old grandma. My husband struck up a conversation with a cast member how many lights etc... were used for a show. They were chatting away about all the cost ($15,000+ per show!!) and all that fun man electrical stuff. He asked us if we were from Canada. We said yes. He said "follow me" and took us to the special reserved seating area. We got to sit down and watch the show from great seats. The show is sooo great. We felt very blessed. (apparently the seats are very expensive to reserve) Thanks to Randy!!! :cheer2:

1. My daughter and I arrived at WDW on May 9th and used the Magical Express. When we checked in the CM informed us our luggage would arrive in the next 2 hours. Well my daughter wanted to swim since we weren't going to the parks until the next day, but we couldn't because our suits and towels were in the suitcases which made her so sad and she cried. Our luggage arrived about 45 minutes after we got to our room and the CM saw the puffy eyes and asked what happened, I explained how she wanted to swim, but we couldn't without suits, he smiled and left. Not more than ten minutes later we get a knock on the door from the same CM with 3 balloons to make a Mickey head and told my daughter that he spoke with Mickey and Mickey wants all kids to be happy so he sent over balloons. She loved it! She told everyone at the pool Mickey sent her balloons.

2. At California Adventures my daughter and I were stuffing a Mr. Potato Head box but were unable to fit in one more pair of fireman shoes, a bummer, but not a huge deal. When we went to check out the CM asked if we got all the pieces we needed I said no, we have to get the fireman shoes during our next visit, well the CM walked over to the parts area, picked up the shoes and put them in our bag without the $2 charge, very sweet.

There are so many more instances of great CM's making Disney magical for us. :earboy2:

Last November we were in Epcot and my dd4 and dh waited outside a restroom why I took my dh6 in. When I came out there was a CM (Ica) who was talking with my dd4. He asked her what her favorite character was then asked us to wait where we were for a few minutes. He returned a few minutes later with pins for both girls.

dd6 and I were sitting in the pub section of R&C waiting for the rest of our group. I'm rearranging my backpack when I realize my dd6 is talking to someone. I look up and she's answering questions from the piano player across the room. He then dedicated and sang a song to her.

Monorail driver who let my dd4, dd6, mil and fil ride up front. Traded pins with the girls, answered fil's questions and gave each of them the driver cards.

In Toontown my dd4 stuffed a box full of potato head parts but there was no way the lid would come close to closing. The cm just smiled and brought out a roll of tape and taped the top lid together in a dome shape over the protruding pieces.
