Nicest Publix close to the Fort

We are coming down in June :cool1: to stay in the cabins.

In the past, we've only needed to run to a store to pick up water, snacks, etc., so SuperTarget has been fine. This trip will involve more people and more cooking, so I need a true grocery store. At home, I go to Publix. I do know, however, that some stores are not as nice as others due to age, product selection, location, etc.

For those of you who make big shopping runs while at the Fort, which is the nicest Publix? How's the organic, Greenwise and international selection? Is there a grocery you like better, and why?

Thanks for your help!

There is a Publix off Apopka-Vineland and even closer there is a nice Winn-Dixie directly on 535. You can find both of these on Google Maps or Mapquest online. I can highly recommend both, but the Winn-Dixie is less of a hassle traffic-wise and much closer to the Fort.

We actually like the Winn-Dixie that's about a mile from DTD/Crossroads. Nice store, good prices.. and as an added bonus there's a big ABC liquor store in the same plaza. ;)

If you want to venture a little further out, there's also a really nice Whole Foods about 15 minutes away.

WD directions...
From end of Hotel Plaza Blvd at Crossroads, turn left on Apopka-Vineland, straight through next light, about 1/2 mile-ish on the right.

WF directions
From end of Hotel Plaza Blvd at Crossroads, turn left on Apopka-Vineland, right at light on Palm Parkway, which eventually turns into Turkey Lake. Follow all the way until it bumps into Sand Lake - Whole Foods is on the corner.

If you head to WF you'll also pass a Super WalMart on the left.

There is a Publix on the corner of 192 and Int'l Drive just down the street from the Gaylord Palms.

The Publix is the store we go to. We do most of our shopping at Publix at home too. You can save some money at Walmart but I hate their meat Dept. You can sometimes beat Publix's price but never service or quality.

Winn-Dixie

Orlando, FL 32836-7025

The neat thing about this Winn Dixie is it's access from the Fort. You can go out the "back way" taking a left from the entrance (or exit) of Ft. Wilderness. Go up Vista Blvd until it dead ends at Winter Garden-Vineland Road. Take a right and go all the way up to Apopka-Vineland Road. It is a major intersection (the opposite side of the intersection is Palm Parkway). Go left and it is less than half a mile on your right.

This keeps you out of the traffic nightmare of Hotel Plaza Blvd and most of Disney Traffic.
