Nicest Hotel You Ever Stayed At

The Hotel Malte in Paris was wonderful. We had a two floor suite with two bathrooms for my 30th birthday trip with my parents and sister. Their breakfast is fantastic, too.
I think it was just after they had renovated it to turn it into a 4 star hotel, so it wasn't even that expensive at the time.

My favorite was the Conrad Hilton in Hong Kong followed closely by the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme.

I have always wanted to try this one
Omni Homestead is quite expensive, so we've only ever done 2 nights and then switched hotels. The Inn at Warm Springs and The Inn at Forest Oaks (near Natural Bridge State Park) supplemented our stays and both were very nice in different ways.
The Inn at Warm Springs is closer to Jefferson Pools and has excellent on-site dining, but the beds were way too soft. The Inn at Forest Oaks is run by two lovely men who cook up breakfast from a scratch (you can order homemade cinnamon rolls in advance), run an antique shop in the basement, and have somehow run central air/heat through a historic home without ruining any of the original charm.

I LOVE a nice hotel and have stayed at many over the years. One that comes to mind is the Ritz Carlton in Beaver Creek, Colorado. My late husband and I were there for our 30th anniversary. Very nice.

Many years ago, two friends and I were upgraded at Bellagio in Las Vegas. We were shocked when we got to the room. It was a huge suite with a foyer, dining room, living room and two big bathrooms. It even had a doorbell. 😃. We were overlooking the Fountains. Shortly after getting into the room, the phone rang and it was the lady who had checked us in. She said “How are you doing?” I thanked her and told her we were screaming like little girls. She said “Have a good time”. It was awesome. 😃

Hard to pick one. I have the good fortune to have parents who love to travel, have money and love luxury so I’ve stayed at amazing hotels all over the world in my life but my favorite was a chateau hotel in Saint Tropez (Chateau de la Messardiere), closely followed by a hotel in Tahiti that I can’t remember the name of but we had a little villa on the water with a glass floor, and you could see the fish swimming around under you. There was a long pier or a little boat to get to it.

I don't think I've ever actually stayed at a fancy-schmancy hotel. On non-Disney vacations we just stay in chain hotels like Holiday Inn, condo rentals, or cabin rentals.

So I think the Grand Californian might be the nicest place I've stayed.
This! I LOOOOOVE the concept of a fancy hotel with luxe/lush accommodations, spas, high end room service, soaking tubs, incredible views.

However, I am a jeans, band t-shirt, converse kind of woman and I would NEVER fit in, just by looks alone, and I would never feel comfy in that atmosphere. If I could teleport to a room without having people look at me, sign me up.

Otherwise, we are Best Western and Disney Value type people.

The Point, Upper Saranac Lake, NY. A 10-room former Great Camp, owned by the Rockefellers. All-inclusive, only 20 guests, all meals taken in the great hall, black tie on Wednesday and Saturday nights. Every room with a lake view, all rooms with fireplaces that the staff keep going when you're not in your room. It's like staying at a private home. Just as magical in summer as in winter. We used to go every year at Thanksgiving, meeting many of the same people year after year. Chubb Insurance used a photo of The Boathouse in one of their print ads.

I don't necessarily think a hotel needs to be "luxury" to be a favorite!

One of our favorite places we stayed in Japan was a place called Villa Resort Yumefuji. It was outside the center of town in Lake Kawaguchi area and was very peaceful, with a large traditional stone soaking tub. And it was a very reasonable $200/night for our stay

Best Lobby: Grove Park Inn, Asheville
That lobby reminded me of Skytop Lodge in the Poconos. Both are rustic and gorgeous. Both have that back porch/patio area that overlooks beautiful grounds.

Gosh, which hotel is my favorite? It's hard to choose. Closest to home is the Logan in Philadelphia. The Royal Horseguards hotel is very lovely in Whitehall, London.

Editing this to say that I've changed my mind. The Horseguards was quite nice, but the nicest place I've ever stayed was the Marriot Royal Aurora in Moscow, Russia. It was 2001 and we got the discounted, adoption rate of $250 per night. The normal rate was over $500 pre night then. It was pure luxury in a country where we didn't see much luxury. On our last two nights, we were moved to a 3-star Russian Hotel that isn't the worst hotel I've ever slept in, but it is close.

The ones coming to mind...

The Grand America in Salt Lake City
The Bellagio and Venetian in Vegas back when they were the peak of Vegas luxury
Omni La Mansion del Rio in San Antonio
Omni Royal Orleans
Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans
Royal Sonesta New Orleans
JW Marriott Cancun

We've stayed at all of the WDW deluxe resorts except for the GF, but I don't look at them the same. It's kind of like the big national park hotels...staying at something like the Old Faithful Inn or the El Tovar is really neat and more elevated than other options, but it's not on par with a more luxurious hotel.

EDIT- Also stayed at The Lodge at Cloudcroft. It was really pretty and fairly elegant, but it's not as popular as other mountainous areas in New Mexico, so it's not quite as luxurious as other options in the state.

Paris in the Place Vendome area. It was the the Lotti Hotel when we stayed there. I believe it’s been bought out by a big name hotel chain now. The whole area felt like something out of a movie.

London in Mayfair. The Sheraton Park Lane was a beautiful building with an equally gorgeous tea room. Our Suite was perfect.

For service? You can’t beat Mexico if you want to feel totally pampered. The One and Only Palmilla in Cabo was exquisite.

Probably the Schlosshotel Kronberg in Germany a few months back. The amenities not vast really (it had a private golf course attached if you wanted to do that) but just the whole vibe and ambience of being an 19th century prior royal residence. The inside was just filled with the whole castle feeling with tons and tons of artifacts. The gardens beautifully done with a public park/trail you had access to as well.

There have been other hotels that I've loved or would probably be considered nicer because of the amenities or aspect of a room or lobby/hotel areas but the Kronberg hotel is not one that we can easily replicate unless we go stay at another castle (which I wouldn't mind doing lol). There have been the Wynn and Encore which those themselves are probably "nicer" then the Sandals in St. Lucia and the Riu in Cancun all of which had much more amenities or in the case of Wynn and Encore more overt opulent feel but they are also places that are more easily accessible on a repeat aspect.

Despite that I work for a large hotel company, I don't stay at luxury hotels too often. The company has has us at a few choice properties before or course, which has been nice. The Waldorf Astoria Park City comes to mind as just lovely.

One time though they took us for one-night for a meeting at this very fancy hotel in Virginia - not one that is in our portfolio. I did not care for it one bit. Yes, it was a super-nice room with all the luxury amenities and beautiful grounds, but it had a weird vibe. The staff was so defferent, like to the point of casting their eyes away from you. A housekeeper apologized to me for tossing some sheets into a laundry bin, as if it was an affront that I had to witness that (she was not in my way at all). It was a bit strange to me - like, you don't have to apologize for existing. It was a real 1%-er kind of place. That's not my thing. I was there feeling like my luggae wasn't fancy enough to be there! 🤣

*Full disclosure, I work for Hilton.
