I am in search of a nice warm jacket or hoodie (both actually) in a women's tall. I am 5 feet 10 inches and there is nothing more annoying that having a jacket be too short. Men's jackets and hoodies tend to look manly so I rather not get men's but if there is a nice unisex one you can recommend that would be fine.

I got my girls the Lands Ends sherpa lined jackets and I want one!!!!! They don't make them for women :( some of there stuff comes in tall but nothing that looked warm.

I bought-- years ago, mind you-- a nice down coat from Eddie Bauer in a tall size. I also have some fleece pullovers from Old Navy in tall, but I got those years ago too.

I usually don't have a problem wearing normal coats/jackets, though, which is why I haven't really looked specifically for tall sizes in a while.

I have several Eddie Bauer medium tall women's coats, LOVE them! I can't seem to find a jacket or hoodie though.

They aren't cheap (in fact quite the opposite) but you might want to check out LuluLemon. They have some really warm hoodies that are designed to be long. Like I said, not cheap, but if they fit it might be worth the money.

Check out North Face. I'm only 5'7, but have long arms. Can never find turtlenecks etc long enough. My North Face coat is actually TOO long in the arms, but it doesn't bug me. Being that this is the Budget Board, swing by a sporting goods store to see how they fit you.

Then if you go online, you can often find last year's colors at a discount.

I'm short, but try Eddie Bauer. They make women's tall sizes and their winter coats are great quality.

Unfortunately, Old Navy pretty much only offers vests in Tall and lighter-weight coats. Maybe later in the season they will offer more?

I'm 5'9" with long limbs and have trouble with coats too. By the time I find sleeves long enough, the coat is way too wide. I've ended up buying most of my winter coats (when I needed them - I've since moved to TX and don't really need one anymore!) from Macy's. I look for 3/4 length peacoat styles - since the length ends up being "just right" on me, and they run more form-fitted and will not be too wide or bulky even if I go up a few sizes to get the longer arm length.

Since they don't have talls I won't order online from there, but let me see if they have local store....

Last year I tried every North Face jacket at Macy's....they were all way way short. The arms were fine but they were overall really short :(. Glad they worked for you though :)

I hate that it's so hard to find clothes fot tall women.... But you can find petite departments everywhere! I feel your pain. I have a super short torso, so tops are not a problem for me. But pants... Forget it!! I need at least a 36" inseam and that's hard to find. Ugh.

I hope you're able to find what you're looking for!

I've got a Mountain Hardware Monkey Man jacket. It's the first fleece (we call them woobies at our house!) that i've owned that has sleeves long enough for me! I'm 6' tall and long armed. I wear that jacket constantly in cold weather. they have a women's version too, but the sleeves and body were too short for me. The colors for the men's are more subdued, but I wear mostly black, so that's not an issue for me. :thumbsup2

It is sooooooooooooo soft and fluffy!!

Gap and Old Navy make "tall" size clothes for men and women. I'm 5'9", and my favorite hoodie is actually a regular size one from the GapBody line. It is super long, and my thumbs even fit in the little thumb-holes they have cut out on the sleeves. Their tall stuff is really, really tall. I think I'm actually the shortest height they recommend it for. I'm sure it'd be long enough for you.

Ahhhhh, those look nice! The men's and women's actually look the same so men's small might work and be bigger than a women's medium or large. Looks like REI carries that brand so a special trip might be in order! Thanks for the suggestion ladies and keep the ideas coming.

For others I recommend Athleta for women's tall stuff. Right now I do not see what I am looking for in a jacket/hoodie. But shirts, sweaters, pants, dresses have been great. Even some non tall stuff has worked, I just read the reviews to see if the regulars run long :)

Eddie Bauer is where I got my last coat also. I'm 5'10" and have extremely long arms. The coat fits wonderfully. I've had good luck buying sweaters from Target with extra long arm lengths and also Lands End has tall sizes.

slightly OT, but where do you have luck with long sleeve t-shirts? Cannot stand it when they shrink in the wash!

Have you looked at Jjill? They sell quality clothing in petite, regular, women's and tall. If you are lucky they might have a store in your area. I am not lucky and have to drive a couple of hours to shop their store.
Below is the address of their online store.

some of there stuff comes in tall but nothing that looked warm.

Did you actually read the temperature ratings? Modern high tech outerwear materials and construction capture a lot of warmth with little bulk. Looking like the Michelin man to stay warm is no longer necessary.

I'm 6' and order all my clothes from:

Long Elegant Legs $$
Long Tall Sally $$ (used to be Tall Girl)
Lands End Tall $
Eddie Bauer Tall $
JC Penney Tall $

Good Luck!
