My DH and I will be at Disney's HH resort in May. I want to go out and have a nice evening dinner to celebrate our 10th. Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant?

Ashley

Fitzgerald's at the Adventure Inn is one of the nicest restaurants on the island. Full selection of steaks, chops, seafood in a darker, club like atmosphere. It is on the ocean with a nice view especially if you sit towards the back near the big windows.

For breakfast you can't beat the Hilton Head diner.

Hudson's Seafood is also a nice spot, right on the water. It is in a building which was once a shrimp processing plant, one of the oldest in the country.

I say for an anniversary dinner, definitely check out Fitzgeralds!!!!

Here are some of my recommendations--

In Harbortown, try the Quarterdeck (upstairs), with windows overlooking the harbor and Daufuskie Island and wonderful food.
Or CQ's for a more quaint kind of place with highly acclaimed food (haven't eaten there for awhile though).

In South Beach, there is a very nice restaurant which I think is called South Beach Inn (or South Beach Seafood)....(wish I could remember). We had dinner there on New Year's eve and it was one of the best meals we've ever had.

You'll have to pay an entrance fee into Sea Pines plantation of $5 per car if you are not staying inside, but it will be worth it for the atmosphere and food.

Ashley,
We liked Fitzgerald's to, went early an it was very reasonable. You can find a lot of bargains if you eat a little early. We also like the Old Oyster Factory, just ignore the guy outside in the time share booth. I like the fact that you are right out on the water, pretty view. Not super romantic where we sat, but there might be better seats for that purpose. A couple of sites you may want to explore are http://hhisleinfo.com and www.hiltonheadisland.com . some reviews of restauants, some menus are up as well as activities in the area. Enjoy, we have gone twice and found it very relaxing. (this was in November, which might make a big difference) I also really enjoy the HH diner, we went for dinner twice, and breakfast once this last trip. Good Shrimp Sabrina.
Enjoy!

I can't remember the name of the restaurant, but I can tell you where it is...As you cross the bridge to Disney's HH resort, look to your left, there is a seafood restaurant in the strip complex overlooking the marina. The food is great, and the view of the marina and WDW HH Resort is great! Have fun!

We stayed at Sea Pines last summer and it was wonderful. I recommend paying the $5.00 (or whatever it is) to get in. There are lots of things to see/do, in addition to the restaurants.

Hi, atlnewf! We just returned from our first (but definitely not last) trip to HHI. I have a long list of suggested resturaunts, unfortunately that list is home, I'm at work. But here's a few I remember-Cafe Europa is in Sea Pines, supposed to be lovely, nice viewOld Oyster Factory-long wait!; Hafsbrau-German food, we loved it; Nick's-some people at HH went and said it was very good; Old Fort Pub-just remember it was recommended.

Simba's Mom,

I just booked the Hilton Head Property and then was warned by friends that it was boring and did not have a restaurant on premise.

Please share with us (me) your experience and suggestions.

Thank you

Boring? Absolutely not! Restful, yes. We loved it-DH actually said he likes it better than WDW! But then, if you like golf, as he does (I mean, LOVES golf). My main recommendation is to rent the bikes-length of stay is only $25 per bike, a god deal. And if possible, rent the individual bikes, not the tandem things, only because I heard a lady at the front desk complaining about all the problems she had with her tandem bike.
Look in the water to the right as you face the main lodge in the morning about 8-9 o'clock. Lots of us have seen dolphins swimming around. And if you hear loud splashing there, look closely-that's probably the dolphins churning up fish to eat.
Be sure to partake in some of the activities. If you have children, we can't tell you from experience about the children's activites, but everyone seemed to have a good time. If you like collecting shells on the beach, don't miss the Beach Nature Walk with Bryan. He really makes it fun. And we really enjoyed the Secrets of the Marsh tour, and the "Behind the Ears" Tour. And we loved just sitting on our balcony and watching all the nature.
We had binoculars with us, may be a good idea-we had brought ours because we're bird watchers, but they may be useful to see Dolphins up close and when out on the fishing pier.
We ordered take out pizza one night that they deliver.
For us Mickey fanatics-I loved that Mickey woke me up every morning, just like at WDW, what a pleasant surprise to hear his voice! And it's fun to search for all the hidden mickeys around the resort.
So have fun and don't forget to post how you enjoyed it!

If you tend not to like typical tourist seafood places - there is a place across the highway from Shelter Cove (where the hotel is) called Charlies L'etoivert (that's not exactly it - but it is french - I think most people just call it Charlie's - it is great and has a wonderful, eclectic atmosphere. In that same little shopping place is a terrific southwestern cuisine place calle Santa Fe Cafe that we've eaten at three times and it is always great...You'll have a great time - we love the HH resort!

Thank you for addressing my concerns.

We live in Florida and are going up to Hilton Head because it is my daughter's anniversary (she married in Beaufort, SC) and now she has a one year old baby so we could not stay in the bed and breakfast she was married at.

While trying to book my grandson's first birthday in Disney World, the reservationist told me about the special offer so I booked it not really knowing much about the resort but based on Disney's reputation, the location of the property and that it was a two bedroom villa which we are always searching for.

Can you recommend any restaurants?

Were the activities you participated in expensive?

Was the pool area nice?

We want to take our grandson to the pool area.

Do any of these require advance reservations, or do you just walk up?

Ashley

If you get a free afternoon during your stay, take a drive over to Savannah! It is only a 40 minute drive and is absolutely lovely.

For anyone going to Hilton Head in April (non-Easter weeks) or early May that has the Disney Visa there is a new special, 35% or more off most rooms, most days. Also states some days later May and June may be available. Go to www.bankone.com/disney to your account, the offers are listed under your statement. (you need to open them up)

Most of the activities you had to reserve (they tell you which ones at check-in on the sheet). Generally, you could only reserve 24 hours ahead unless it was a paid activity. Secrets of the Marsh, Beach Nature Walk, Behind the Ears tour were free. Longview Cooking Club for members was $15 pp. I think the Dolphin Tour, which we didn't do, was $30 pp. But for us, it was much more exciting to see Dolphins just swimming in the water near the resort.
Pool area looked nice (we really don't swim, so never tried it out). I remember they said the pool was heated to 82 degrees.

Anyone who wants a SPECIAL dining experience at HH should consider a Private Affair, hosted by CM Chef Gordon. He prepares a wonderful meal, just for your family/group & serves it at the Beach House. It was the high point of our otherwise rainy Aug. trip. Webmaster Doc is a wealth of knowledge about PA, or I'm sure you can get more info by calling the main desk at HH. Don't delay, these meals are booked far in advance.

WOW SUEG that sounds great!

I have not received my confirmation yet so I do not have the number for the HH desk.

How much was it per person?

What are you given to eat?

Where is the food prepared?

It sounds awesome.

Oh would you know if I can use my Dining Experience card.

Thank you.

Hi! I can second the recommendation for A Private Affair with Chef Gordon. It was truly a wonderful experience. We left the menu selection open to the chef, and he did not disappoint. We had crab cakes for starters, just bursting with crab, not much filler at all, and then moved onto filets mignon and barbecued shrimp on skewers. For dessert, we had chocolate fondue, with fruit & cookies to dip into it. We also had wine pairings, and one of the wines was so good that we asked if we could have what was left of the bottle, and he let us bring it back to the villa.
The cost is $150 per couple, or $50 per person for bigger groups.
Dinner is served in a room at the Beach house, overlooking the ocean. It really is lovely and peaceful. He has the lights dimmed, with candles at the table, and there's a grill in the room that he uses to cook the food on. He will send you menu selections, but you can also have him customize the menu.
He doesn't allow tipping, so the cost really is $150 per couple, and it includes the wine pairings. A good bargain, for what you get!
