We will be staying at Hard Rock Hotel for 4 nights in a week, and we (boyfriend and I) were looking for a nice place to eat outside of Universal. We aren't really interested in chains, at least ones that we have here in NJ. We were looking for something a "notch" up from a chain such as Applebee's or TGIF, but not as nice as, say, Emeril's.

Has anyone ever eaten at Damon's? How about Dan Marino's restaurant? Or the Orlando Ale House? Someone told my sister about Pebbles? Ok, one more, Tony Roma's? They don't have those around here.

Any advice on these or any other restaurant like this would be greatly appreciated! :)

luvpooh,

We ate at Dan Marino's twice. It was OK, kinda like upscale pub food. If you can afford it try Charley's steak house. It is world class steak, but it is expensive. Actually, we spent more at Charley's than at Emeril's.
Do not count our Emeril's because of cost. If there are two of you, the bill will be approx. $80.00-$100.00 (before tip and/or drinks), and that is on the high end of the food scale.
You have to try Emeril's, the food is realy good and the Banana Cream Pie is awesome. The Banana Cream Pie was $8.50, but I think it was worth every cent.

Go to Bahama Breeze. It is a tropical themed restaurant that has very good food and many tropical drinks. I think the drink menu is 20 pages long. There is one on International Drive not far from the Convention center and one off of I4 at Lake Buena Vista(exit 27), right where the new Fairfield and other Marriott hotels are located. It is not too expensive and they give you plenty of food. Dinner for two with drinks should run about $50. BTW, it gets very crowded so try to get there early.

Another thumbs up for Bahama Breeze! The food was wonderful, the service was great and the frozen drinks are just what you need to relax after a long day at the parks.

Lots of locals seem to love Pebbles. Maybe someone can fill us in on the details.

DH & I ate at Pebbles at the Crossroads Shopping plaza in 1998, a late lunch. It was great. The wait staff was very friendly and were very attentive. The food was wonderful too. It was one of our better meals of the trip.
I have read other reports on Pebbles and have yet to see someone say something bad about them.
I plan to go back on my next trip.

Another thumbs up for Bahama Breeze,we went to the one on International Drive.

We spent our anniversary this past November at the Bahama Breeze in Lake Buena Vista and it was fantastic! We even managed to go on their grand opening night and what service and food! Gotta try it!! :D
