Niagara Falls, Ontario

I
Most of the falls view area or Clifton hill area hotels are walkable but that hill will kill you by the end of the day. We found the Wego very handy we would get off at the top of Clifton hill walk down the hill then get the bus at the bottom.
Parking at the fallsview casino is very cheap. I paid $5 for all three days that I stayed ( you only pay when you leave. If you have a players card and do a bit of gambling it is free)
heard they changed this since so many were taking advantage of this parking loophole. It's $14.00 Canadian at our hotel.

Has anyone stayed at the travelodge by the falls on Ferry street? Is it ok? Decent neighborhood? I'm getting nervous due to reviews but we got SUCH a good deal ($125.00 TOTAL for all 3 nights).

We're going at the beginning of April. 1 day at Niagra-on-the-lake and dinner, for me and then on to Toronto to see a band at the Hard Luck, for the husband. Can't wait to get away for the weekend!

For Toronto look at the Eaton Chelsea or the delta downtown. Closer to your time check out the express deals on Priceline. Generally all the downtown 4 star hotels are fine

This is a great thread for information!

We are booked at Oakes Hotel in a falls view room for 4 days in early December, pricey but doubtful we will get back. I think seeing the falls will be one of the highlights of our trip. I have fingers crossed it snows, even just a little bit :D

Has anyone booked the Hornblower cruise online? I was thinking about just waiting until we got there to buy tickets. This is based mostly on the fact that the Canadian dollar is so much lower than the US dollar. To buy online (in US dollars) would be to overpay. Thoughts?

unless it's a busy time, we bought the tickets at the ticket booth right before we got on the boat. Since my credit card does not charge me a fee for charging in Canadian dollars, it was a better deal, and just as easy for me. We were there at the end of August, and the line in the afternoon was not bad at all. That was 2 years ago. If I go this year, I'll do the same. I think I'll have an even better exchange rate this year. We did both cruises, one from the American side, and the Hornblower from the Canadian side. Both were fun.

Thanks. that's what I thought.

If you sign up for emails from Embassy Suites Fallsview, they offer really great rates during the off season. This was the offer for December 2015. It's a great hotel with a beautiful view of the falls. The rooms are all suites and they were recently refurbished.

Is it better to prepurchase the adventure pass online?

Saw this on tripadvisor.
On Feb 6 2016 we parked the car overnight at Fallsview as we were staying at one of the connecting hotels. Upon leaving we were charged 30.00 for parking -- it was quite the surprise!! In the past when we've done this, parking was free if we gambled a min. of 20.00 in the slots. Apparently this is no longer the case. The parking attendant advised that you now have to gamble quite a bit to get free parking & you have to gamble on the day your are leaving. (she could not tell us how much as "it promotes gambling" & we would have to check with the Players Advantage desk for the details). If you plan on overnight parking at Fallsview, make sure you gamble on the day you leave, hopefully it's enough to comp the parking. If you are staying in that area, check the parking rates with the hotel it might be a better deal.

I'm from Niagara Falls NY I'd highly recommend the Casinos and Clifton Hill for good entertainment. Also if your into it get a fishing charter! Some of the best fishing in the country!

Didn't read all through this but I just wanted to say to the OP that we've stayed at the Hampton Inn (so did lots of relatives and friends for my DS's wedding in Aug. 2014), and we really enjoyed the location and the staff, and the free breakfast every morning. We had great weather and were able to walk to so much from the hotel.

Enjoy your stay!

Has anyone stayed at the fallsview suites? We are booked there this August.
