NHL Hockey????

Any hockey fans out there who have heard any news lately about whether there will be a season this year, delayed or not?
I have not been around a newspaper or a television for awhile.

I haven't heard anything, I think it's still likely not to start on time though.


Here's hoping it all gets settled soon, I need my hockey!

Last thing I heard was it's not looking good--the talks broke down. The CBA expires tomorrow, I think. We'll be hearing more soon.

I heard the talks broke down also. Both sides don't want to give. I'm going to be one mad fan if they don't get their act together here soon! I have season tickets!

Neither side will give. We are one unhappy family here!! At least we've had the World Cup to watch. I love, love, LOVE to watch Hockey ( like going to games even more ). I will "tolerate" watching more than one game of football per week, that's when I'll usually clean the closets out. LOL

I dont think we will see NHL hockey until Jan. if not then I think they would cancel the season.

Good thing I have 2 AHL hockey teams within a 1/2 hour of me

Both sides are making a big mistake on this one. They need to have a season.
If they don't though, we will just give the cup to the Av's since they were going to win it anyway.

Big Time Dallas Stars Fan here. No way the Avs would win the cup. Im not saying Dallas would win. Too many questions on Defense side.

Back in 94, the owners blinked on the game of chicken. This time they built up a lot of money to hold the fort. Players have been saving as well. We wont see hockey this year at all after tonight. It really sucks because this is the coolest game on Earth. and yes I did mean to put the punn in there.

I really wish they would bargin in good faith, but it sounds like the players are the ones who are the ones that are keeping a deal from getting done, but the Owners have overpaid for years. A couple years ago, Bobby Holik gets 9million a year to play for the NY Rangers. Come on, a 3rd line Center worth 9 million? Owners were a little better last year and have been even better this year on controlling costs. Im surprise the NHLPA hasnt filed a collusion lawsuit saying the owners talked amongst themselves to not overpay.

Bettman and Goodenow both want to win this battle. Neither wants to give up anything. The bad thing is that the fans get penalized and have to pay for it. The cost for a ticket and goodies at the game have gone up too fast and has gone above the average fan. Im just lucky I live in Dallas and all the games are broadcast. Living in Chicago, Id go nuts since the owner there is too cheap to show home games on TV.

I hope they can reach a deal by midnight tomorrow night, but I'm not holding my breath.

BTW, Im rooting for the Finns tonight. Since Team USA is out, Id like to see the Finns win it all. Maybe Canada will follow in the footsteps of the USA Mens Basketball team.

My kids enjoy going to the Lock Monsters as much as going to the Bruins...and its a LOT cheaper. In fact DS's school even has a fundraising day when we all go to a game in February.

We have one local semi-pro league here. I guess we'll be going to more of their games this year. *sigh* And Hatcher lives @ 5 miles away from me..........hmmmm, should we all go camp out on his lawn??

Well I know they are holding camps in Montreal and Ottawa for the Sens and HABS but nothing definate has been annound=ced as of yet but the interviews from the players seem to make me think they really want to play and come to an agreement so lets hope so. Atleast I have 1 more game to watch tonight and it should be a good one. I can always drive up to Hamilton to watch teh Bulldogs play (Montreals farm team in the AHL) just in case anyone didn't know who they were.

I thin it should be made a law there has to be an NHL season atleast in Canada anyhow I mean we live for the damn game up here LOL. GO HABS GO if there is a season. Ah well I will just have to watch the Canadians beat the Finns tonight in the WCOH final.

if you're in the area I think you're in (based on the logo, I'd guess SE Michigan), there's AHL hockey in the state (Grand Rapids), there's also Major Juniors (Plymouth, Windsor, Saginaw), US Juniors (USA Hockey National Development Team in Ann Arbor), and College Hockey (Ann Arbor, Plymouth (Wayne State plays their home games at Compuware), Kalamazoo, East Lansing, Bowling Green OH, and more)

Plenty of places to get your hockey fix
