NH dad credited for busting child predator at Swan!

Good and another thing they shouldn't just scream but they should yell at the tops of their lungs "you're not my daddy/mommy" that will get peoples attention more than just screaming, which could be mistaken as a misbehaving child.

Good point! Thanks

Okay not to down play the Dad and his son. They are truely hero's. Or that this sicko is not 100% to blame!!

But the Dad mentioned the man looked suspicious (not his exact words) to the point that he and his son were watching him. If so why did he not notify the Swan Staff. Maybe the little girl would not have had any of that happen to her.

Plus as a mother in a pool area especially I keep my eye on my kids period. How was he able to get her away with out Mom &/or Dad noticing.

I guess it easy for me to sit back and judge this since I myself wasn't involved.

Like pp I have taught my dd what to do if a person approaches her. My daughter was blessed with a very healthy voice! She is to kick hit punch scratch bite yell "your not my Mommy/Daddy!" Over and over and over She even knows where to kick a man :scared1: . She knows she can not talk to strangers period. To the point that in Target or Wal-Mart people will ask me if she is rude or shy. Neither she is smart!

I doubt they would have gotten much of a response from the staff. If the guy had been questioned before the incident I'm sure he would have been clever enough to come up with a grande excuse. He's been doing this for 40 years. Then he may have made an attempt when the people in the pool area were not as aware as the NH family. Applaud that NH family!!!

Although as a mother I ask the same question. I'm sure that little girls mom will ask that of herself for a long time.

We're human.

Our daughters are 2 and 6 months this type of story just terrifies me. Our boys are 15 and 17. They had some clever ideas for dealing with the guy. What is so sad is the guy probably will serve little time. For a country that talks about protecting its children this is an area we fall tragically short.

In reading all the posts I agree w/everyone. Just wanted to point out that the predators are not only male they are female as well. And I've even heard of children being used to get other children. We tell our kids pretty much the same thing as you all do. I sat down with my kids last night and went through this whole discussion again about people they don't know. That good adults never ask a child for help. They should never go anywhere w/anyone w/o mom or dad's ok. And if they feel uncomfortable in a situation and that voice inside is telling them something is not right they need to run and yell "Go away you are not my Dad/Mom" and yell while running as fast as they can to someone they do trust (safeside adults) and tell tell tell someone.

A great video we bought our kids was "On the Safeside" I think is the name and it is great.

Has anyone heard about what is happening with the little girl? Not by any means is this disney's fault. There is no background check required to go to a theme park. If Disney were to say, i'm sorry, please accept this (insert whatever here) would they be assuming any responsibility. Please, let me make myself perfectly clear...the one to blame is that man.

I would be floored if Disney offered anything to the family, especially since I thought the Swan and Dolphin are not technically Disney properties. I could be wrong...it has been a few years since we stayed at either one, but I thought Marriott or someone else bought the Swan and Dolphin from Disney a while back. :confused3

You are 100% correct. The only treatment that has every been proven to work is castration and we don't allow that in our country because it is "cruel and unusual punishment". Personally, I'm all for it. No one seems to care about the cruel and unusual things that the person did to a child.

::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes:: I'm also one of those people that could give a rat's a-- about the rights of molesters-how bout the rights of the victims!!!! Sorry, I don't care what brought you to doing such a horrible thing in the first place, if it's proven that it happened the above treatment is the only thing I see as fair and just. Oh well, unfortunetly that can't happen- it's one of the prices we pay for living in the greatest country in the world. However, if anything ever happened to one of my kids, well, let's not even go there....

By the way the Safe side for kids DVD is the BEST! My kids LOVE LOVE LOVE to watch it because it's really funny and entertaining and we love it of course because it makes kids understand how to react in certain situations etc. My 6.5 year old totally gets it, but my 4.5 yr old who is the type that totally trust people and never can even imagine that anyone in the world is bad sort of gets it, but I think it's starting to sink in slowly w/her. Of course we talk to her about it too, I guess by the time she's DS's age she'll get it-I hope. But because of how she is, other than when she's at preschool, she's never out of my sight.

It will never cease to amaze me that there's scum like this in the world....

It could happen any where at any time. We found out in Dec 06 that our neighbor of 15 years was molesting girls 10-14..he is 78!!!

We found out when the District Atterney called to interview our 12 year old.

Fortunatly, he did not pray on her...otherwise you would be reading about me murdering someone.

I admit we do let our kids have some extra freedom at WDW because we feel safe, and now perverts like this are using it to their sick advantage...very sad.

People are naturally afraid of accusing people of things without proof.

You're assuming that Mom &/or Dad were watching.
