NFL Pro Bowl Coming To Orlando in 2017

I find this a bit interesting, just because Disney was mentioned in the initial press release. Now I know Disney owns ESPN, but I find it pretty odd that Disney was even mentioned. At first I thought Wide Wide of Sports, but then remembered Orlando has the "Camping World Stadium" which holds a NCAA bowl game every year.

It would be the perfect time to bring back "ESPN The Weekend" in conjunction with the Pro Bowl.

A joint press conference between Disney, ESPN and the NFL will take place Wednesday in Florida to announced a change in venue for the NFL's all-star festivities from mainstay Honolulu, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday, per sources informed of the deal.

The 2017 Pro Bowl will be played in Orlando, per Rapoport, the first year of a multi-year deal to play the game in central Florida...."

It would be cool to go to but I can't. Disney was mentioned because they own ESPN and have the pro bowl rights I believe.

I agree. The pro bowl has no meaning. The sideline interviews are more entertaining than the game itself.

If they wanted to make it more interesting, make it a rookie showcase of sorts like how the mlb and NBA have a futures game. I mean heck, that's generally who plays in the game anyways

Don't really care about the game either, just the atmosphere and players, nephew will be all over it.

At least with the MLB that game has meaning. The pro bowl is just a party of NFL player which many don't show up because they don't have to. Heck I'm a Packer fan and our coach was supposed to coach the pro bowl and he backed out of it.

A few years ago I was in Oahu during the Pro Bowl. In fact, we were driving past the stadium pretty much exactly at kick off. My wife asked if I wanted to go and I told her I'd rather go back to Aulani and drink some rum while relaxing pool side. The cool thing was that the players were staying at Aulani and the Marriott next door.

Not what I was trying to say at all. I'm saying the game is much maligned by many people because its become less of an all star game and more of a filler game when stars choose not to play.

No problem, just pointing out "entertainment wise" it can be exciting to have near WDW for many. They may have events throughout that week and weekend as well (maybe even at WDW?), might be some entertainment there. Maybe at WWOS complex. Will see.

Either way, coming back for FP+ will make it a great/er day.

The pro bowl isn't a week long event like the super bowl is. I don't think there will be anything at WWoS.

Trick question. No one has EVER cared about the Pro Bowl.

It's a good move by Disney to bring it to Orlando, it may boost park attendance for a year or two and drive some PB ticket sales since it'll be convenient. But, once this contract is up, my guess is the Pro Bowl will disappear forever. Over half the players voted in last year declined the invitation, I don't see Orlando luring them more than Hawaii in late January, but maybe Disney will throw in a vacation for their families.

Sounds like a Hail Mary ... but is it supposed to help the Pro Bowl, ESPN, WDW or all three?

Maybe they think a time zone change will help improve player attendance and viewership.

Pretty sure just WDW.

The game will still be 7PM EST, they won't move it from prime time for 2/3 of the country, it'll just be a night game.

Better player attendance would help both Pro Bowl and ESPN, b ut I think it's starting to be a image thing, no one wants to look desperate enough to play in the pro Bowl. A free trip and free week to Orlando doesn't really top a free trip/week in HI to me.

Yeah I think its a smart move with Disney able to market the pro bowl and could be a good pairing with a park/pro bowl day.
