And contrary to popular opinion, teammates don't ever feel that the player messed it up for them--because they know they could have been the one that made the mistake.

I have no disdain for the fans. I don't particularly like the team because of:

1. Spygate.
2. Super Bowl XXIX

But I think the front office is run very well and Bellichek is a great coach.

And I dislike the Giants more.

2. Cundiff could have called timeout if he felt rushed, Kicker is allowed to call timeout on the field. Ravens had 1 left.

3. Cundiff could have let the play clock expire and it would have turned a 31 yd field goal into a 36 yard field goal, still a distance any NFL kicker should make.

Scoreboards are run by the home teams, not NFL officials. NFL officials are responsible for keeping score and time on the field only. That being said, I don't think the Pats were cheating here, it was an honest mistake. And even if they were, it's still the Ravens' responsibility to know what down it is and they could have easily seen the down markers along the sidelines.

They were talking about this on Sports Nation, I think, and were very clear that regardless of what the scoreboard said Cundiff or Harbough could have called a time out if they weren't ready or were confused. According the the show (no affiliation with the Pats) they were hollering for Cundiff quite a few times before they could find him and get him to get out there for the kick. Whatever.

I feel bad for the guy that people are blaming him for the loss. What about the guy we stripped the ball from in the end zone? If he hung on, game over. Cundiff would only have tied it. The end zone play would have won it. I think Flacco had a much better game than Brady (ya think??) but with everything put together, the better TEAM came out on top. One player doesn't win or lose a game. Give Cundiff a break for missing, give the Pat's a break for winning (they won already, get over it) and let's all get ready for the Superbowl!!!

PS. I've enjoyed a lot of SB's without my team in it, so I say enjoy it not just because my team happens to be in it. At least there are the commercials if you can't make yourself root for one of the two teams!

Harbaugh spoke today and said this was ridiculous, they knew exactly what down it was and the scoreboard did not play into what happened at all.

So what is Harbaugh coaching a HS team? This is PROFESSIONAL football, if you can't count to 3 or see that big red sign on your side of the field maybe you need to step down.

Sounds like sour grapes to me.

It's about the fact that every Boston team has won a Championship in the last 10 years, and some have won more than one. My husband is a Yankee fan, born and raised in northern NJ, but even he appreciates what the Boston sports teams have done since he has been living here.
