Anyone here belong? And what benefits would I really get from this club since I live in the mid-section of the U.S.?

and I know that the benes I get are not the ones you would likely share in. I belong to the World Chapter and we have a few of the Disney Artists who are members as well. We have a pot luck or such each quarter, we get to purchase auctioned off items donated by other members. Of course, there is always pin trading going on. But the best thing about our chapter is that whenDisney Artists, Brian or Alex attend the meetings they will sketch Disney characters or guests wearing their Disney apparel and we get to bid on those items which are auctioned off before the end of the evening.

The greatest benefit would, of course be, having a group of all of you around to sit and "feel" the Disney Magic together while you are so far away from a park. The newsletter is greatis an additional bonus.

Has anyone here started a chapter in their area? (None here or in Iowa. :( )
Not sure how I would go about starting one. Plus it seems that people are so busy anymore, do you have a low attendance? I use to be a newsletter ed for various not-for-profit groups. That part would be easy! ;)

Hello Luv2Roam,

The best reason I have to be a member of the NFFC is, that it gives me a good reason to go to Disneyland every July to attend the NFFC Convention. I look forward to this event 51 weeks of the year, and my wife and I have not missed one since we began.

I have been a member of the NFFC since 1985, and we attended our first Convention in 1989, with two little kids. They loved it too and looked forward to going every year until they left home.

The NFFC publishes a monthly newsletter that usually contains news of something "Disney" going on that I didn't know about.

I just stepped down as Vice President of Chapters after eight years. I started the Baltimore Chapter in 1990, and was active in starting other chapters around the country (and world) since 1991. The neat thing about chapters is that it allows you to meet other Disney fans in your hometown. It's amazing how well "Disney people" people get along together! (Great minds think alike!) My fellow chapter members have become like a second family, and we've traveled to the parks together many times.

Besides sharing our mutual love for Disney, our chapter raises money thru auctions to do things for our community. In the past, we have supplied 20 sets of mattresses to the new Grant a Wish Beach House in Ocean City, Maryland; a commercial washer-dryer to a hospice in York, Pa; and a lot of other things I can't remember...

We do not recruit new members; they find us.

Are you one of those people who have had Disney in your life since you can remember?

Do you think Walt Disney contributed more to our society than any one else in the last century?

Are you interested in the history of Disney, the studios, the parks?

Want to know where the company is going in the future?

If you know you can say yes to the above, maybe you should find out more about the NFFC.

In the past 16 years that I have been a member, I've met and heard a lot of Disney legends, found a lot of neat things for my Disneyland collection, had some exciting Disney adventures, cried, laughed, and had a lot of FUN! The "magic" is real...

But most importantly, over the years I've met a lot of very close friends, who share my interests and enthusiasm for Disney. I guess that's really the best part of the NFFC for me, the friendships with other "Disney people".

Feel free to email me with any further questions. Hope I have been of some help...

Dave

JudySue and I both belong to the Baltimore Chapter (which covers Maryland, Delaware, District of Columbia and Virginia) as well as the World Chapter in Orlando. We have been members since 1988 and have met a lot of people with common interests in NFFC. It is a good group to belong to. Besides the web site of www.nffc.org, their address is PO Box 19212, Irvine, CA 92623.

Dave said it better than I ever could.

I just want to add that I don't belong to a chapter.....I only belong to the National. There aren't any chapters anywhere near me.

I enjoy the newsletters, they are always packed with info. And I wouldn't miss the NFFC convention in July!! I always have the best time. It's the best. :D
