Getting ready to do a Mommy and Daughter trip next week! It is my daughters senior year of high school, and she got to pick anywhere in the world to go for her senior trip with Mom, and she chose Disneyland. We are so excited to share the magic together! I even designed matching shirts for us! I was just wondering if anyone had any current fireworks and parade viewing strategies. Where do you like to watch from? How do you get a decent spot without having to wait to long? Thanks in advance!

For the parade, we love the planter near the Alice in Wonderland Bathrooms and across from the Matterhorn. There are "seats" built into the planter and plenty of floor sitting space. We've also never had trouble walking up there 20-30 mins before the parade and finding a spot. We like to get Mickey head ice cream sandwiches and popcorn and eat while we watch!

Thank You! That is a great tip, I never would have thought of!

For fireworks, the main question for you is how important are the projections to you. Castle hub will start having people a couple hours in advance and be mostly full nearly an hour before the show. From main street or the train station, you can usually still see the castle and depending on how many people there are, it may be possible to slip in 30 minutes before. They also play the music and do projections on It's a Small World but the fireworks get shot off to the left of the attraction so they aren't really lined up.

If you know the parade route, it's usually not too difficult to get a spot. Main street can be a bit difficult but if your group is small, the area between Matterhorn and It's a Small World is usually easier. Except on the busiest days, it should be possible to get a spot for the parade, even after the parade has already started. I sometimes watch the parade twice by getting a spot near the beginning of the parade route and then making a mad dash to the end of the parade route.

Not sure when you’re arriving but we arrive on Sunday for three nights and we’re watching the weather. Tuesday looks to be very wet. That can change the parade/fireworks depending on the weather.

Yes, we will be there Tuesday. Making sure to pack ponchos and an extra pair of shoes. Should add to the excitement!

Enjoy. 🙂 Today I called and canceled our last evening due to the forecast so we will be heading home on Tuesday morning. Have a great trip.

I know...ive been following it for days and it hasnt changed except to increase the percentage....at this point i am fully trying to prepare myself for no parade nor fireworks:(:guilty:

We arrived Sunday to stay onsite at GCH for three nights. We decided to drop today (Tuesday) and drive home this morning and we’re so glad that we did. When we left at 7:00 this morning it was raining pretty heavily and the number of people already walking to the parks for RD was surprising. It rained on us all the way home and it’s still raining as of almost 3:00 PM. We saved one night at the GCH which was another story but glad to be home and dry.

The parade is cute - but not nearly as amazing (to me) as the lighting of the castle - usually two times each evening - and earlier than fireworks so you will not be dragging as bad lol. View from MAIN STREET between the buildings and you get to see the castle, cool projections on the buildings, music, and snow ! THAT is a Disney memory for a lifetime :)
