Next DVC resort?

more typically 4 hours a day... occasionally we will go back to a park, but we tend to do more like... arrive around 10 leave around 2 or 3, go to the room, have the kids nap, go to dinner, etc.

How often do you go to WDW?

We don't go that often so definitely like time in the parks. But going back midday is so nice now that we're DVC. It's great to relax at the resort for a while before heading to one of the parks for a couple hours in the evening.

I don't now how many times we have been to Epcot... and we have yet to ride it...

I haven't been on it yet either. I'm worried it will make me feel sick.

It ebbs and flows. Sometimes weekly. Sometimes not for three months.

I would like a Villians themed DVC resort at the entrance of Villians land at MK. Retheme BLT to heroes and replace Villians lair, move that over to the new resort.

Then make some kind of Villians vs Heroes interactive feature in Magic Kingdom. At the end of the night, make the castle glow a certain color based on who ever won the interactive game. I know this will never happen but thought it would be really cool.

It's been a LONG TIME since I was on Dragons. My recollection is that they were a pair of better-than-average B&M inverts.

It's really not bad, it's very smooth. Maybe try it at the end of your day, just in case you need to relax for a while after, but I don't think many people get sick from it.

Love that idea!!

I have no interest in a villains hotel, but if there's a Villains Land and the MK hotels are each supposed to reflect a MK land, a villians hotel would fit the pattern. But BLT is an extension of the Contemporary and the Contemporary is Tomorrow Land. There's also not a Heroes land in the park.

I'm going to get flak for indirectly saying "Disney is for kids", but generally speaking:
  • Magic Kingdom should be for elementary schoolers and younger
  • Hollywood Studios should be for middle schoolers
  • Epcot should be for high schoolers and older
  • Animal Kingdom is for anyone who likes animals
If this was Sim City, I would drag-and-drop Toy Story Land to MK, and build Villians Land in HS. I would then build a Toy Story (or Pixar) themed hotel in the MK area.

I’m with you - this villains obsession by theme park adults feels like a trend. It’s bad enough we’re getting a theme park land based off of a trend (started by Universal by the way) and Disney would be way overdoing it with a “villains” hotel adjacent to the Magic Kingdom of all parks. Magic Kingdom is supposed to be the quintessential family theme park, not yet another adult hangout spot. Not that adults shouldn’t hang out at MK, it just shouldn’t target them.

Disney follows the money. Disney adults = $$$$.

I felt like Velocicoaster was doing everything it could to throw me out of the seat the entire ride. I didn't really enjoy it, tbh. Although I do want to ride it again, after eating a few pieces of ginger candy first.

I wouldn’t be unhappy about most of these changes, but age is not how Disney conceptualizes the parks (and never was)—they are all supposed to be for the whole family.

Even accepting that framework though, I don’t understand why EPCOT would be the oldest part (especially older than Hollywood Studios), with it’s themes of learning, science, exploration, etc.

But Villains is at least as much for the whole family as Haunted Mansion or Mr. Toad. I tend to agree that the Villains theme is catering to their highest spending core customers (Disney adults) but my daughter has loved Maleficent since she was about 8 and started watching Descendants. Also, OBB has been huge for some time.

Is it what I would do with a whole new land in MK? No, definitely not. If the rides are amazing, I’ll spend time (and LLSP money) there independent of theming (like I do on Tron), and if not, it’ll just be something that pulls rope droppers away from the ride I most want to do. 😛

Epcot is a nice family park until about 2-3 in the afternoon. They did a nice job with cool kid summer. Scavenger hunt in the countries is a nice thing. Rides are great. Exposing kids to cultures & technology is great. Nice shopping. Tasty food. But there’s a massive vibe shift later in the day and suddenly you’re in an overcrowded booze fest. I’d hate for them to turn any other park into this.

Booze = $$$$

But yeah...I hate the World Showcase vibe in the evenings. It's so much worse now than it was during my visits in 2008/2010.
