Newsweek Palin Cover

You missed the point. It's not the picture itself. It's the fact that Newsweek treated their cover of Obama differently. Let's see unretouched close ups of them all. That would be fair (and balanced).

Has Biden even been on the cover???

Are you saying these were TOUCHED UP?

Cuz I see all kinds of facial defects.

Much ado about nothing, as per usual Fox.

If all their covers were untouched I would definitely agree, but if they intentionally left her's untouched but fixed pictures of other candidates, I can see how that would be an issue. By itself it seems trivial, but when you add it to the barrage of other biased treatment she gets from the MSM media (and most cable news) it starts to be a problem.

but isn't that one of Palin's selling points? she's just a normal person, a female equivalent of Joe sixpack (whoever he is). I think the whole point behind the pic was to get just that message across, here she is flaws and everything just like any other 4o something yr old woman, not retouched to be a facsimile of herself...

Gotta love the remark....she just one of the folks (and that's the problem)

Gee who are they hoping wins....

with a remark like that this folk is not to happy with that remark. I could care less about the pickture but the remark bugs me.

yes they are...have you really ever seen Obama skin...it is not that great. He has many flaws to his skin....but the touch up does not faze me...but the comment does....

I got that issue of Newsweek and I saw the picture...I am not a fan of these super closeup pictures that seem to be a trend lately (the NYTimes magazine does it on their covers also). I didn't really notice any bad imperfections on Sarah Palin on the cover :confused3 ..actually I noticed that her teeth looked really great despite the super closeup! And her eye makeup also looked really good!
I also noticed that her earring is in the shape of Alaska! :)

Someone else told me that there is some visible facial hair that can't be seen in online pics but I haven't seen it in person. :confused3

I wish I had her teeth.

I think she looks dang good for a woman who has been outdoors her whole life and is in her 40's. My skin isn't near as nice as hers, that's for sure! (and I'm younger and a big sunscreen fan too!)

I'm not a Palin supporter, but come on! She looks great (wish I looked that good & I'm younger than her). Out of all of the absurd issues I've seen discussed this election, this one just might be the winner.

OMG, I had to watch the video after reading the thread. And really I am just amazed.

This is a major news show talking about how you can see her wrinkles, pores, facial hair, etc. and that somehow makes Newsweek an "elitist, liberal magazine and you should cancel your subscription"??

Good grief, I'm not a huge fan of Palin's but she is a beautiful woman.

But really what the heck does that have to do with the election?

I think I would be more upset if I was a Republican who likes Palin and is trying to support her being the VP that Fox News is bringing up stupid (IMO) stuff like this. :confused3

Are we reduced to this? Airbrushing? Really? :confused3

I think that the Fox commentator and that Andrea chick have done a huge disservice to Gov Palin, and women everywhere, by suggesting that she/we aren't "good enough" the way we are, and must have our flaws airbrushed away. Sarah Palin is a lovely woman. Americans seeing a blemish or two won't change that. Making an issue of this is ridiculous, juvenile and demeaning to women everywhere. I would say Fox News is being sexist.

That is almost word for word what DH just said and ITA! :thumbsup2

I thought (and correct me if I'm wrong) that Newsweek has a policy (the same as other news outlets) that they distinguish between photos (which are not airbrushed) and photo illustrations. Clearly the front cover is a photo of Palin so according to their policy it would not be airbrushed! :confused3

If that's their policy, then it's not an issue. However, I can see why there was the strong reaction against it considering how the MSM has treated her so far.

I guess no one remembers the OJ cover dust up?

I think it was Time.
