Newsflash! Your dog doesn't have to go EVERYWHERE with you!

I don't think she does know that. After all, Fido gets in the lifeboat and baby Sally gets to drown.

Fido gets the lifeboat because that is who she personally loves and is attached to. If her instinct is to save what she loves, you will not change that. That doesn't mean that she thinks Fido is her legal child, but she loves him all the same.

Baby Sally has a mommy and daddy that I am sure will see her to safety.

You're not helping yourself here. You will never change their minds, they will never accept your feelings as valid, there's no point in going back and forth with this proceeding to get more and more heated.

You're right. I am done here. Thanks. I'm glad that someone gets it.:wizard:

Funny :lmao:

Are you high? Did your dog come out of your uterus or from an adoption agency? When you get old and go to the hospital, they will not be calling your dog for informed consent to treat you. It's alright to call him that but it does not make it a fact. That's all she's saying.

I'm glad you are a loving pet owner. All dogs deserve a loving home.
:thumbsup2

You would seriously save your DOG (whose lifespan is MAYBE 16 years) over the life of your neighbors human baby? THAT IS SO TWISTED I CAN'T EVEN PUT IT IN WORDS.

that is beyond insane.....I can't even imagine.

I totally accept her feelings. Really I'm glad she loves her pet that much. The problem is that she said that it was LisalovesPooh's "opinion" that the pet was not her real, legal child. That's not an opinion it is most definitely a fact. I can call my human babies all kinds of names like love bug, baby bear etc it doesn't make them magically become either of those things..they are still LEGALLY children. Just as her dog is still LEGALLY a pet.

I love my dog as someone else would love their child. Get it now?

I must say that the thread seems to be going off topic. You can put lipstick on a pig and it's still a pig. You can call a dog a child, but to me it's still a dog. But obviously, to some posters their dog is just as important to them as a child. They love it and care for it like their human babies. So let them call it whatevery they want....and you call it what you want. And everybody happy and we can all go back to the discussion at hand.:rolleyes1

And strangely enough, we had a student at my college try to sneak a puppy into class in her pocketbook this morning. I went oK until the professor got excited and the dog starting barking at him. Needless to say, while he admired how cute it was he told the student to "Go walk the dog and don't come back to class today!"

It was rather funny, but a major distraction.:confused3

I hope the excited puppy didn't pee in her purse! :scared1:

That is funny. But why bring your puppy to school? I don't think I'd be concentrating very much knowing the puppy was in hiding. I mean if I was the owner of the pup.

I'm sure that is why she was asked to leave. Good for the Professor!

There are some people out there with some serious issues. WOW. Just when you think you have seen everything, along comes something else.

People will do whatever they want to do, regardless if it's allowed or not, and will lie to themselves to justify their sad behavior. I love how they think they are so slick and getting one over on someone, when everyone really knows what
is going on. :rotfl2: I would crack up if the dog started peeing in her purse. :lmao:

Keeping a dog in a purse for the length of a class is just cruel IMO. It's fine to feel however you want to about anything but a dog is still a dog and I would assume would prefer to be treated like one. Not as a wallet. ;)

It never ceases to amaze me how entitled people are these days. Just because YOU love your animal and think they
So, no, I don't think your dog is cute or sweet when it comes up to my child in a place it shouldn't even be and "wants to be friends" with my kid. When my son is clearly agitated that should be your sign that maybe the dog needs to get away from him and, yes, I will let you know that in a heartbeat. that dog bites my child. They will not want to deal with me then.

As someone who has a small yorkie that I do take places, although never in food stores, etc., etc., I actually don't want your kids coming up to her. So make sure you teach your child the same thing. It amazes me when I see people just allowing their children to come running over and reaching out and trying to pet or even grabbing roughly at my small dog. And YES you are so right when you say that even the most well behaved pet can bite. My dog starts to get agitated when too many kids run over and try to pet her. I always tell kids they can look at her but not to touch her and always be careful with any strange dog. It can really agitate small dogs especially when children or anyone even just starts grabbing at her. I see adults do it also. Luckily she has never bit anyone at all but she does start to shake some and please realize it goes both ways.

Our dog is considered to be part of our family but I would definatly not bring her everywhere we go, it's rude to assume animals are allowed at other people's homes and I definatly don't think that any animals except service dogs should be brought into public places like restaurants and stores. Pet owners need to show respect to others that frequent those places, keeping animals out is simple common sense and courtesy for people who are allergic to, frightened of, or simply don’t like animals. Dogs poop and pee at will, bark at strangers and some bite. Yes they may be very important and feel like a child to people but dogs can do harm to others when brought into places where they are unexpected.

If someone has a dog out and about like that people tend to assume it is friendly - I have taught my kids to never approach a dog without first asking the dog's owner.

When my kids were babies in strollers- I was constantly asking people not to touch the baby.

I am sorry but if you (a general you) cannot go buy dinner or clothing without your dog - unless you have a real disability not some made up nonsense- then I think you have issues that would best be dealt with by a therapist. I had dogs all my life. Not once did they read the Sunday papr to see what was on sale. Not once did they insist that they had to come to Macys with me because they had a coupon. Never did they even want to come to the mall to take a look around. Maybe other people have gifted dogs?:confused3

If your dog cannot bear to be separated from you while you grocery shop etc. then again, some kind of therapy is in order. Until you get that squared away please use a grocery delivery service.

If it is a store like Petsmart where your dog is allowed then by all means have at it. Any other place where they clearly don't belong - like Kmart, the bank, restaurants etc. please keep them home. While I love dogs I don't love having to dodge them in places they shouldn't be in.

Again you cannot put a dog in a grocery cart or a grocery store. It is never allowed, ever, anywhere. If someone does then that is obviously wrong and I cannot imagine it ever being allowed, ever. The only restaurants are sometimes outdoor restaurants and if you don't like being by the dog then you don't have to sit by it.

That is not the point though. My dog is friendly. The most friendliest dog can get agitated when children continually or adults continually come over to pet it. Especially smaller dogs. Children are not always gentle either. I had a kid continuously follow us around a park chasing us, yelling this strange name he thought the dog's name was, we were almost running from this kid, it is humorous now but wasn't at the time. Some dogs are fine with 20 kids running over to it, but many are not and all kids should be taught that. She has never bit anyone. That is not reason for me to not bring her out with me. I know people that have pets and keep them outside all the time, don't even allow them in the house. I find that cruel personally. If you don't want to bring your dog out, you don't have to, some people do.
