News Special: Bad food in Disney?

I can't believe how sensationalist that New York station's report was. Do people really have a stomach for that kind of reporting? It makes me rather proud of our local media.

Still, on the other hand, all of you traveling to the world say from March 11 thru the 17th...well...I just think you shouldn't risk it. Stay home...it's just not worth the chance of getting sick. I myself am comitted to go then and can't get out of it...but I just won't eat anything except I've got to have some Pastries in France. :rolleyes1

Ok darn it, I'll stay home. But only if you promise to raise your glass (beverage of your choice) in honor of St. Patrick's Day before you leave. I'll feel much better, thank you. :shamrock:

Me and my two DD's 14 and 15 watched the news report last night . . . my 14 year old says, didn't they say this last year, too?? :confused3 YUP they did! They always have to pick on WDW!!! The nerve! I didn't hear anything "earth shattering" . . . temperature problems. We're not worried!

I think they rerun the same special each year just to increase their ratings.

Was Dan Rather that stellar newsman for CBS a source for this piece?? Only kidding.

Too bad I'll at WDW then, unless you want to pay me big bucks to stay home? A couple grand a piece for 3 ought to do it!

Did anyone else think evil thoughts about CBS, considering Disney owns ABC? Gee, CBS--making stuff up--could it ever happen? Maybe only once a year or so?

disneyfreakjackie: Your 14 year old has a good memory! According to the cbsnewyork web site this latest report is a followup to a story they did a year ago.

I agree with everybody who has commented on this. Given how many meals Disney serves and how few problems they have had, I think they are doing pretty well. But I'm sure there is also room for improvement.

I had a problem with a meal in one of my local restaurants here at home that was so upsetting I reported it to the local board of health. The woman I spoke to at the board of health told me "if you had my job, you would never eat out!"

I happen to enjoy eating raw fish in the form of sushi, so if that doesn't kill me....nothing will! :fish:

I was wondering......How do these people know that they had food poisoning and not some other bug?? As we all know, many people get sick while on vacation.

I like Disney, (although not as much as many on these boards :) ) and think for the absolutely astounding number of meals they serve each year, they are doing one heck of a job.

I definitely think you are taking much more of a chance at any local fast food place.

Well, I DID get sick at Disney once. It was at Crystal Palace. We had dinner there with friends. I was the only one out of 9 of us that had the fish(white fish filet with peppers/onions on top). It didn't taste exactly right....really bitter. But I thought it was the recipe....peppers can sometimes taste bitter. Didn't think anything of it.

We hung out a CP for a while. We had the last seating of the night, so we were enjoying all of the character interaction. It was great!

Then we shopped on Main st. for a little while, talked with our friends all the way on the monorail and parking lot. I began to feel like I was going to be really sick. I tried not to let my friends know how I was feeling since we were saying good bye.

This was our last night at Disney. It had been a quick trip....4 days (we had just come from a week at Myrtle Beach). I got in the van and told DH to drive fast to the hotel..........and I mean fast!!

You don't want to know the rest. Just think, Linda Blair in the exorcist!! ;) I have never, and I mean never, been sick like that in all my 40 years! I laugh about it now...........the bathroom part is kind of funny, if not gross, but I won't share it here.

I know it had to be food poisoning because it came on fast and left fast, and no one else in the whole party got sick.......even days later.

Now, does that keep me from eating at WDW?? No. My family formerly owned a restaurant and though we never had any complaints of people getting sick, I realize that sometimes it's going to happen. But I think I will stay away from fish on buffets...... :teeth:

Funniest thing on that special, I thought atleast, was the complaint about someone's kid getting sick after eating the mickey macaroni and cheese! Kids get sick from mac and cheese ALL THE TIME. The processed cheese in it is enough to make anyone's stomach upset. I think these people who file reports just want money or something.
