I assume this refers only to WDW. My granddaughter is performing in the Disneyland parade and it is being taped Nov 6, 7, & 8.

That is so strange. The rumor on the DL Christmas thread was that it was being taped Dec 11-13 this year.

DL is usually filmed in November. WDW is usually filmed in December. This year obviously WDW changed that.

I know that. But word on the street is that DL changed it up this year as well.

Not sure of the exact taping date(s), I just know that she has to be there Nov 6 for costume fitting, practice, etc. and that taping will be within that time frame. Disney has made all the arrangements and they receive weekly e-mail updates from Disney.

Sources are saying Skippers Canteen will be open December 20th or at least that is the aiming date. The menu will not necessarily be for the picky eater and will be inspired by the four big rivers Nile, Amazon, Mekong and Congo.

That's what it said in the miceage article.

I can tell you, if it really is heavily ethnic I doubt that it will last. Such a large number of Americans are adverse to anything unusual or outside the normal flavors. Unless they keep it boring like Yak and Yeti.

Sadly, I have to agree with you. Personally, I welcome anything "outside the normal flavours". Most places inside the parks Americanize the food almost past the point of recognition. Still keeping my fingers crossed that they will offer something interesting and not found elsewhere in the park.

Unfortunately true. Most of my family doesn't even like Boma for this reason

Honestly I didn't read the whole micechat article I just saw sources discussing it on wdwmagic. I haven't been to Yak and Yeti but from the reviews of it it's either you really like the place or you don't.

I haven't done Boma for dinner but breakfast I found fantastic for a buffet and I'm not an entirely adventurous eater but it was good.

I'm the pickiest eater I've ever met. Boma for breakfast was fine because they had plenty of "normal" breakfast foods. You couldn't pay me to eat diner at most of the more adventurous places on property though. There are several that I literally could not find something I'd eat, even on the kids meal. :/

I think some variety is good along with some restaurants having "safe" food as well. You need to have a good mix and it seems MK is trying to do that with the Canteen and the recent new menus at Pecos Bill and Tortuga Tavern.

Boma is a personal favorite. I avoided it at first because I'm a bit sketchy about buffets, but when I finally tried it, it became an absolute must for every trip. I'll finally get around to breakfast on this trip as I'll be staying at AKL. Last year we booked Boma once in in the middle and once at the end. It's that good.

Bring on the Skipper's Cantina.

I'm not saying that Boma is bad. It's very highly regarded. But it's also true that a large portion of the US guests basically want variations on "american" food. With a bit of luck Skippers can strike some sort of balance.
