News Round Up

WDWNT.com has some new rumors regarding a pixar expansion. Most of it has already been rumored before but the dancing buzz attraction is a new rumor. They say the RC Racer that is in Hong Kong and Paris is the only ride thats being cloned to come to DHS. Mater's Junkyard Jamboree is being rethemed to Woody's roundup which has also already been rumored and finally the ride that is replacing luigis flying tires at DCA will get a retheme to Buzz supposedly.

Sounds to me like some sort of placeholder until they get to build something better.

I don't think so at all. One of the bigger complaints about DHS is that it is a lousy park to bring your little ones. Other than Playhouse Disney and a couple other stage shows and a bunch of character meets, there's nothing there. In fact, other than TSMM there are zero rides in this park for the under 6 set.

I'm not in any way suggesting that I would be happy if this was the ONLY thing they did, and in fact it would do little good for us as our child is past that age. However, I would applaud Disney doing this as a first step towards an overhaul of DHS.

They haven't done a "placeholder" in years...

They don't spend money on those any longer...

Unless you count camp Minnie/Mickey at animal kingdom...
Which of course became a 16 year placeholder

Damn...stop writing things I agree with!!

I didn't mean a placeholder as in ''They'll build something there and then they'll build something better over it'' I meant that this Toy Story land sounds to me like some sort of ''Let's place some kiddie fair rides that won't cost as much as a big ride until we get to finish Star Wars land'' Nowhere near the Pixar land that many envision. You may recall that DCA had the same problem than DHS as far as kids appeal goes. Their answer was Bugs Land, which is pretty much what I imagine this Toy Story expansion being.

Sorry for the poor choice of words. Not a native speaker

Fully agree, we went there and left by about 1:00 because we ran out of things to do with our DD and DS.

I'm not sure what "envisioned" means...

There's lots of speculation about them "wowing" people in wdw and the evidences seems to point out clearly that there is no reason to do so...

Just "some" investment to keep the packages being booked. It is a cash cow...no longer a source of corporate pride.

I just think that some easy rides and theming is good enough to accomplish their goals all the same...

As are the bloated timelines and budgets..which conveniently are reported "big" and then quietly come in later "not so big"

The final tally on the fantasyland "expansion" was somewhere between 50-60% of the big shot announcement...if you sift through all the rhetoric.

Well that's easy...

Start telling me avatar will be a "game changer" and it "makes sense to wait on Star Wars"

;)

Sorry, can't write either of those, though I think avatar will be very impressive, and will bring AK up on a lot of people's list. However, Star Wars is clearly where it's at though I also don't have a problem with them letting them do things right.

Yeah...but the reason given is crap...

"We want to wait to give them time to incorporate the new material..."

Really? 35 years of constant saturation hasn't given you enough for a good ride or two?

That's the same garbage..."just wait for...it's coming...it will be amazing!

...Just keep coming every year and dump 8 grand while we "tweak" the blueprints for five years"

Damming -I agree.
