Disney giving people their money back?!?! How often does that happen. Hmmm must have not sold too well thats the only thing that would've prompted this.

Maybe it sold so poorly that they didn't even have to give anyone their money back:rotfl2:It was a dumb idea.

Well actually I do know some people actually did pay to go to the event. Very surprising Disney did this in my opinion.

The special event was from 1 to 3AM and then the store was going to close. NOW the store is going to stay open all night and through the next day. Disney realized they will make plenty back on volume instead of a limited event. Looks like some decent toys so far. I think they might have sold plenty but decided threy didn't want to turn people away so opened it up. They will make plenty.

Well of course they would make plenty but they could've made more had they not refunded the $50. i really don't think it sold well at all.

Understood. It doesn't work for everybody. But getting from OKW to a dinner at AKL and back again when you have 8:45 p.m. reservations is almost impossible without a car. You can spend up to 1.5 hours taking a bus to Disney Springs, transferring buses, and doing that whole nonsense over again. Time is money. When you do the math it may mean more saved than spent...

For things like that we take a taxi. Might cost us $30-50 a trip. This trip we've been here 6 days and I've used a taxi once, to the tune of $13. A rental car for 11days would be about $300. I get why you and other people prefer a car. Lots of people do. We have a friend that prefers a rental car. There rental car got a flat tire driving around Disney World, which subsequently damaged the car. They spent the better part of a day first stranded, then the car company had them go back to the airport to get another one. Lost probably 6-8 hours. After hearing thier story I was really glad I don't rent a car.

So $50 to enter a store was over the line/ridiculous?

I'll wait for the "the free market is always right" excuse for Disney trying that preposterous donkey of an idea...but the reality is that it was just a souless, low rent move.

Lets hear it.

im assuming Disney was relying on the uber star wars fans to fork out the money, which in some ways im surprised they didnt

I prefer to look at it as if Disney bent over backward in it's attempt to lure Locked Logic.....pirate:

If you go back and read the foce friday disney parks blog post, it was blowing up with comments. and they actually were answered.
Yes, still giving the free ($50) messenger bag to those registered, those people have a seperate line and will still be given access to shop first, a 2nd line will be set up for people that didn't pay. Tickets were sold, no clue if they only set aside a few, making it more "exclusive" but those are some lucky people that i'm sure will be more than doubling their expenses ebay this weekend.
No thanks.

my guess is they knew this was happening, had nothing to do with not selling well etc.. Those rabid collectors if in Orlando, or Anaheim would be sure to spend more than 50 bucks to shop, as I said before, go back and look at the Thursday before Star Wars Weekends thing they did the last 2 years, 300 bucks to shop.
But that was sold a little futher in advance, and people were already planning on going to SWW, this thing kind of just popped up.
