That's why I do it. I'm not anti-technology, I want my phone to last all day, and I find if I am constantly checking my app the battery doesn't last out the day. I really don't want to spend my afternoon sitting at a charging station. So, I have a small card with my plans for each day. If I need to refer to the app, I do, but my point is that I don't actually need the app to use FP+.

if you don't have a portable charger yet, get one. Absolutely necessity in the Parks

I just deactivated thirty bands, and just received 12 new ones for a split stay vacation in August. So excited to be able to easily opt out of MB! I will be doing this as I am in no need for the extras!

I've been told the battery will last about 2 years.

They don't say it anywhere, but I asked last time we were there, and they will actually recycle the plastic from the old bands. Since I have no desire to collect all the colors, I'm going to bring a bag of MB with me for recycle next trip.
Just be sure to deactivate them off your MDE account first.

How long do they last? How can we know if the ones we have from a previous visit still work?

I'm pretty sure the battery lasts for up to 2 years but that just powers the long range rfid. If you just want to use it for short range communication, like tapping the band to enter the park, then that should work indefinitely.

Atleast that's the way I understand it.

I have a split stay coming up which means I'm getting 2 sets of Magic Bands. It's not allowing me to decline them though. I guess since it's been more than a year since I received my last MB and I don't actually have the new ones "in hand" it won't allow me to decline the 2nd set.

Since my bands should ship 3 days apart, I'm wondering if I'll have a small window to cancel set 2 once set 1 ships.

Apologize to all for this being off-topic.

@Reddog1134 I was just able to do this exact thing. On the main MB and cards page, you can't, but if you choose to "customize" the second set of bands, then under each individual band, you can decline each band individually.

If that doesn't work, you could always try calling in (I know that can be an adventure on its own, and I can't recommend who to call). It does state that if a guest does not meet the criteria to have a band declined online, they can call in and have it done manually by "a Cast Member with access to the functionality, such as pre-arrival support team" (again, I'm not sure who that would be, sorry)

Has there been any news or speculation on how they are going to pull off the effect of the floating mountains?

Looks great. It's a shame that we don't have those drone pictures anymore. I guess someone got caught.

They'll probably build super light structures that will be somehow connected to regular mountains. Basically a huge rock bridge. Just a guess.

If you look at the photos posted you can red the red or brownish colored curved steel beams those will hold the mountains in place. The center place truss type piece is a temporary piece to hold things in place. The curved steel will be themed as thick vines.

The colored curved steel pieces are those vines holding the top pieces in place. This really quite the engineering project.

It's not giving me the option. Maybe because I already customized?

Nope - my first set which is already customized I could still decline. The decline option isn't on the screen you show, it's on the screen where it shows all the MB for your party.

I suppose it is possible that because your trip is so far away, they have not yet allowed you that option.

I just checked a website that showed you how to do it. The option definitely doesn't appear on my screen.

So is the big Avatar ride going to be along the line of the Harry Potter Hogwarts ride?

I don't see how it could be. Universal has an exclusive license for theme park use of the technology used in the Forbidden Journey for another few years.

I keep hearing that it will be like Soaring but I have a hard time seeing that when I'm looking at the construction especially as there seems to have been rails in some of the pictures. It's to bad that it's not going to be more along the HP rides a bit more thrilling than Soaring. I think I'm one of the few people (well actually all of my family) that really didn't care for it much. Maybe when they upgrade it and have a new film.

Hoping not, but do think its super impressive. We just have a few in the group that get really nauseous on that thing. But then when they stand up after tying there shoes they get dizzy.

Inversions are the worst though.

Seriously-grab your Gramma and turn her upside down, then set her back on her feet, kinda like a snow globe. See what happens.

I think the exclusivity runs out in 2017. Wouldn't that be just in time for Avatars grand opening?

Could they possibly be allowed to build a ride with the technology as long as it doesn't open to the public before then?
